About BonBonne Nuit Candy Packaging
BonBonne Nuit is a packaging design series for candy. The name combines two French words, bon bon, meaning candy, and bonne nuit, meaning good night. The concept invites customers to taste their own lucid dreams. The packages use a montage style that brings together surrealistic elements. Because lucid dreams are controllable, the story on each package suggests a desire that people are likely to have. The conceptual product names are intended to trigger imaginative scenes in the mind. The series includes three pouches, three mini round boxes and two rectangular handle boxes.

- Production Technology
- To construct a unique collage, photoshop was used to create the tone, colour, and mixture of images.
- Design Challenge
- The biggest challenge of the design process was to come up with the best way to create a design that leads the viewer to visualise the scenery by only looking at each package. The combination of collaged images, as well as the subtle tone and colour changes, complete the whole design.
- Research
- During the research, the key purpose was to look for what kind of design approach would ideally lead users to imagine what they see on the package, as if they were the protagonist of the dream. Illustrating was considered at the beginning to present each dream. This way, though, might feel lack of realism and make it difficult for users to build a connection. Therefore, after considerations, photoshop was chosen to create collages of different elements to finalise the designs of the packages.
- Inspiration
- There are always setbacks in life, and sometimes lucid dreams are the only place to get comfort and where dreamers can freely control. The concept behind this shop is to let their customers to have a taste of their own lucid dreams. In French, bon bon means candy, and bonne nuit means good night. Therefore, the two French words combined together become the brand name, BonBonne Nuit.
