About The Mix Land Streetwear Store

The Mix Land is a streetwear store in Hangzhou, China. The design concept starts from the image of a laboratory and applies street culture to the interior display. Three dynamic art installations, called energy extraction, condensation and the decomposition table, combine sound, vision and touch to create an interactive experience. Highly saturated neon blue, colorful windows and doors and digital screens form the main visual accents. The display installations can be rearranged within the open space, so the store adapts to both commercial and experiential needs.

Unique Properties
The concept of store starts from the laboratory and tries to use street thinking methods and visual expression to make the interior display of this space as dynamic as street culture. The designer adds three dynamic art installations to it, energy extraction, condensation and decomposition table, which all together through sound, vision and touch gives consumers a more immersive interactive experience.

Production Technology
Our impression of labs is usually accompanied with wild colors generated from various chemical reactions - the wildest colors of all, neon is also a commonly used design element in the street culture. Designer Yuan Lijun used neon in The Mix Land as highlights of the space - highly saturated neon blue installation, colorful windows and doors that create constantly changing shadows and flickering numbers on digital screens.
Design Challenge
From the perspective of street culture to consider traditional design
Project Duration
The project was launched in HangZhou in March 2019, completed in August, and exhibited in September
Operation Flow
The Mix Land is an open book - display installations can be easily re-Arranged in the open space, making the space adaptive to diverse changes, taking care of both the commercial and experiential needs for the space.
Research
It is through such means as the optimization and transformation of traditional retailing methods, the application of street thinking methods, the addition of interactive experiences like art installations that better connections with consumer groups and more output channels of the content are established.
Inspiration
Street culture is a high-profile area in the fashion industry in recent years. With the change of consumer groups, the traditional retailing methods of stores also need to be changed accordingly. Through non-traditional designs, the interpretation of the inner spirit of street culture makes young people feel resonate and provokes the desire to explore its internal.
