About Nireeka Nyx Electric Bicycle

Nireeka Nyx is an electric bicycle designed for off-road and trail riding. The main frame is made of monocoque carbon fiber, which is light and stiff at the same time. Front and rear suspension give a smooth ride. Instead of manual assist levels, the motor output is set by the heart rate of the rider, so the added power feels natural. A gyro assist system also adjusts the motor output to the inclination of the slope, which helps to extend the battery range. The frame uses curved, flowing surfaces rather than the simple triangular tubes common in bicycle design.

Within the evolving landscape of personal mobility design, Mohammadreza Shojaie's Nireeka Nyx Electric Bicycle emerges as a compelling synthesis of performance cycling heritage and forward-thinking electric propulsion technology. The work demonstrates sophisticated understanding of contemporary design language, employing a restrained material palette where carbon fiber's inherent strength-to-weight advantages find expression through carefully considered surface treatments ranging from matte finish frame panels to precision-machined component details. The full-suspension architecture suggests the designer's commitment to versatile functionality, accommodating both urban commuting and off-road recreational use within a single coherent form. Particularly noteworthy is the integration strategy for the electric drivetrain components, where battery and motor systems appear seamlessly incorporated into the frame geometry rather than applied as afterthoughts, suggesting holistic design thinking from initial concept through production realization. The chromatic decision to employ crimson accents against the predominantly monochromatic frame creates visual hierarchy while establishing brand recognition through consistent application along primary structural lines. This approach evokes traditions of automotive and motorcycle design where accent colors serve both aesthetic and wayfinding functions, guiding the eye through complex mechanical assemblages. The proportional relationships between wheel size, frame triangle dimensions, and cockpit positioning suggest careful ergonomic consideration, balancing aggressive sporting stance with practical daily usability. Viewers might contemplate how such designs represent broader cultural shifts toward sustainable personal transportation solutions that refuse to compromise on performance expectations or aesthetic sophistication.

Unique Properties
The Nyx is a lightweight, competitively priced, full-suspension off-roader featuring high-quality components and Nireeka's premium custom carbon fiber frame. The main frame is monocoque carbon fiber and super light and stiff at the same time. Not only the material is a premium but also the method that is being used to make the frame is top of the line.
Dimensions & Packaging
Compared to the rest of the bicycles in this test field, the Nyx is the most conservative resulting in being the most versatile, with a short 448 mm reach in size Medium, 1254 mm wheelbase, and short 435 mm chainstays.
The 67 head angle and slack 71.2 seat angle will disappoint those looking for radical geometry. The geometry is finished with a 645 mm stack to give the rider an aggressive and comfortable riding position at the same time and a 20 mm bottom bracket drop.

Production Technology
Normal e-bikes deliver the motor power by selecting the assist level manually while Nyx gets the rider's heartbeat rate and delivers the exact amount of torque based on that. The bike feels bionic since you feel connected to the bike because of the real-time calibration. The other feature is the Gyro-assist system. It delivers the motor power based on the inclination value of the slope and will customize the motor output. This is the best way to get the most possible range out of the battery.
Design Challenge
One of the major challenges was to have an integrated motor and battery in the frame while protecting our philosophy and design language which is not having simple triangle tubes mostly seen in this industry during the past century. Finding an outsourced high capacity battery, and a motor with a high-end technology that can perfectly fit in a limited space of the uniquely elegant frame designed by Nireeka, made the challenge more complicated but the impediment has been overcome successfully.
Project Duration
The idea and sketching phase started in November 2019 in Dubai and the design finalized in March 2020. The molding process has started in May 2020 in Shenzhen and the first prototype came out a month after that at the same place. The testing phase began in June in Dubai and after 5 months of developing the features and creating the e-commerce selling platform, the bike released in the global market in December 2020.
Operation Flow
An electric bike is a normal bicycle with extra power provides by an electric motor mounted on the frame. The engine makes pedaling easier so commuting, offroading, and going uphill will not be a pain anymore. The main battery is chargeable as easy as charging a smartphone and the ride will be as smooth as a family car thanks to the rear and front suspension.
Research
From the design perspective, the outer shell of a bike is the main chassis and the body at the same time. The chassis can not be covered by a shell like cars so the bike frame should be exciting enough. Technically, the main challenge was to give the bike a more natural feeling since most of the pro riders consider having a motor as cheating. If the bike delivers a proper amount of torque, which we did that by using the heartbeat rate, they will be convinced that biking still can be a sport.
Inspiration
There is no specific design language in most bicycle brands. All the Nireeka models are easily recognizable because of the floating surfaces and lines called flame surfacing inspired by Nyx, a primordial deity in Greek mythology and is the personification of the night.
