Exquisite Taste Residential House

About Exquisite Taste Residential House

Exquisite Taste is a residential interior design covering 240 square meters. Two separate households were merged into one home, planned in a hotel-like layout. Flow is the central concept, and a curved entrance leads inside while hiding a storage room and an electronic wardrobe. Italian art paint covers the ceiling and extends to the television wall, where the door of the audio-visual room is concealed. Display cabinets use titanium-plated iron parts and indirect light. The dining area holds an oval stone-topped table under golden lighting. The project was completed in 2024.

Exquisite Taste Residential House by Chung Yi Chun presents a residential dining environment that engages with enduring principles of spatial refinement and material orchestration within contemporary design discourse, suggesting dialogue with mid-century modernist sensibilities regarding geometric clarity, honest material expression, and the integration of functional illumination as architectural element rather than applied afterthought. The composition demonstrates notable technical accomplishment in its calibration of chromatic relationships, establishing a sophisticated triadic harmony among warm cognac and amber tones, cool taupe and greige neutrals, and lustrous bronze and brass metallic accents, with each chromatic family occupying distinct material and spatial zones that create visual rhythm without chromatic cacophony or competing saturation levels. The architectural detailing reveals considerable craft in the execution of vertical fluted wall and ceiling treatments, where regular ribbing generates both textural relief and light-catching dimensionality that activates otherwise planar surfaces, transforming potential flatness into dynamic interplay between highlight and shadow across the vertical field. The open brass-framed shelving system demonstrates formal intelligence in its proportional relationships, creating rhythmic horizontal and vertical divisions that echo surrounding architectural geometries while maintaining visual permeability that prevents spatial blockage and allows the warm amber backing plane to function as chromatic event within the composition. The sculptural pendant luminaire introduces welcome curvilinear counterpoint to the prevailing orthogonal order, its overlapping elliptical bronze ribbons describing kinetic orbits in three-dimensional space that reward viewing from multiple positions and create shifting silhouettes against the ceiling plane as one moves through the environment. Thematically, the work appears to explore the contemporary residential interior as stage for cultivated domesticity and social ritual, where the dining table functions as anchor for gathering and the surrounding material composition establishes atmospheric conditions conducive to intimate conversation and contemplative enjoyment of curated objects and carefully orchestrated spatial relationships. The generous fenestration opening toward urban horizons suggests deliberate engagement with the dialogue between interior sanctuary and exterior urban dynamism, the atmospheric recession visible through floor-to-ceiling glazing providing visual release and contextual grounding while the material restraint and geometric order of the interior composition offer counterbalancing serenity and enclosure. The design may reference hospitality environments in its gallery-like presentation of objects within the illuminated shelving system and its sophisticated material palette favoring tactile richness and visual refinement over decorative exuberance, potentially drawing from boutique hotel and high-end restaurant precedents in its integration of architectural lighting, material luxury, and spatial choreography serving social program. One might observe how the vertical fluting creates rhythmic visual texture that guides the eye upward while simultaneously establishing human scale through its regular interval and dimensional relief, a device with historical resonance in classical pilaster treatments and mid-century wood slat wall systems, here rendered in contemporary vocabulary through presumed painted or lacquered finish and integration with concealed linear LED illumination. The material selections suggest engagement with enduring associations between natural materials and domestic warmth, the leather seating and apparent stone tabletop invoking tactile and visual richness that signals investment in quality and longevity over transient fashion, while the bronze and brass metallic accents introduce notes of restrained luxury and crafted detail that elevate utilitarian elements to aesthetic presence. How might the careful calibration of warm artificial lighting and cooler natural daylight throughout the diurnal cycle transform the atmospheric character of this environment, and what range of experiential qualities might emerge as changing exterior conditions interact with the consistent interior material composition?
