About Yangpu Sales Office
Yangpu is a sales office located in the Yangpu Economic Development Zone in Hainan, China. The interior covers 1594 square meters. Natural elements guide the whole design. Green plants are placed around the space to form a winding route and a sense of gradual discovery. Simple backgrounds allow sunlight to shape the rooms, so light and shadow create different scenes at different hours of the day. The layout divides the flow of property visitors and golf visitors from a single main entrance. The design conveys a lifestyle of travelling and living.
Simone Wang's Yangpu Sales Office demonstrates how contemporary spatial design transforms commercial environments into architecturally significant experiences that transcend purely functional requirements, positioning the sales office typology within a broader discourse on phenomenological architecture and the poetics of material and light that has characterized progressive design practice over recent decades, drawing upon traditions of spatial fluidity and organic form that trace lineages through midcentury modernism while employing contemporary fabrication technologies and materiality to achieve unprecedented formal complexity and surface refinement, the compositional achievement of this interior environment resides in its masterful orchestration of curved planes that descend from the ceiling in rhythmic intervals, creating a vertical cadence that activates the double-height volume while maintaining visual permeability and spatial flow, these suspended elements function simultaneously as structural expression, light-modulating devices, and sculptural focal points, their biomorphic geometries suggesting natural growth patterns or geological formations while remaining resolutely abstract and architectonic, the chromatic sophistication emerges through nuanced deployment of an ostensibly limited palette, where subtle temperature shifts within the neutral range create depth and dimensional modeling, the warm undertones of the ecru and greige passages advance slightly while cooler gray shadows recede, establishing spatial hierarchy through color temperature rather than chromatic contrast, the dark charcoal floor with pale veining provides essential tonal anchoring that prevents the composition from dissolving into ethereal weightlessness, grounding the floating ceiling elements and creating dynamic interplay between heavy and light, earthbound and elevated, the technical facility evident in the seamless integration of architectural systems including lighting, climate control, and acoustic management within the sculpted surfaces speaks to sophisticated coordination and craft execution, passages of particular accomplishment include the apertures carved through the suspended planes that frame glimpses of the mezzanine level beyond, these carefully composed openings create visual layering and invite exploration while maintaining the structural integrity and formal coherence of the ceiling installation, the integration of living plant material within the floor plane and visible through the glazed perimeter introduces essential biophilic content that softens the pristine minimalism and connects the interior to natural cycles and organic vitality, thematically this environment explores the productive tension between orthogonal discipline and organic freedom, between architectural monumentality and ephemeral lightness, between commercial purpose and artistic aspiration, the space invites contemplation of how retail environments might elevate everyday transactions into meaningful spatial experiences, how architectural form can shape emotional response and behavioral patterns, and how material restraint can paradoxically produce sensory richness through careful modulation of light, shadow, texture, and proportion, potential references include the fluid ceiling planes of contemporary museum design, the material minimalism of gallery environments that prioritize artwork over architectural assertion, and the phenomenological investigations of light and volume characteristic of meditative or spiritual spaces adapted here to commercial application, might this synthesis of artistic ambition and functional program suggest expanded possibilities for how we design environments of commerce and exchange, transforming transaction spaces into contemplative experiences that honor both pragmatic needs and human desires for beauty, meaning, and spatial poetry?

- Unique Properties
- Hainan Ancient Yantian Yard On The Sea Sales Office is located in Yangpu Economic Development Zone, Hainan, natural elements are the main design elements of the whole space, and green plants are placed around the space to create a sense of spatial experience of "roundabout". The simple background reflects the natural environment with the change of sunlight at different times, and the light and shadow change into different scenes in the space.

- Production Technology
- The project is designed using design strategies such as contrasting virtual and real, organic construction, interspersed with blocks, and integrated landscape.
- Design Challenge
- 1. There is no front square at the entrance, how to create a sense of arrival experience and ceremony at the entrance?
2. The main entrance is a unified entrance for property viewing customers and golf customers, how to divide the flow and how to create a different sense of space People are impressed?
3. How to create a sequence of spaces that constantly create surprises within an irregular spatial structure? - Project Duration
- The project started in September 2023 and is expected to be completed in Hainan in March 2024.
- Operation Flow
- First, understand the general situation of the project, think and solve the key points and difficulties in the design according to the architectural plan provided by the owner, then use the design strategy to derive and analyze the plane, and finally integrate the design concept to complete the design work of the whole project.
- Research
- After a preliminary understanding of the project information provided by the owner, the designer went to the project site to conduct on-site investigation and communicate with the owner, grasp the owner's demands, create a sense of spatial experience of "roundabout", and convey the lifestyle of "travelling and living".
- Inspiration
- The project is inspired by the streamlined topography, meandering water system and natural ecology, and hopes to promote and promote the concept and practice of green habitat design from an international perspective through the award.
