About Uhouse Design Office
Uhouse Design is an office interior in Guangzhou, China, created for a design studio. The lighting combines warm hotel style light with neutral office light to form a comfortable working atmosphere. Floral arrangements and books add a friendly feeling to the workspace. A life hall is placed in front of large floor to ceiling windows and holds a round jade disk. Wooden cabinets recall luggage racks and hold the materials that designers need. The open plan layout supports sharing and easy communication between colleagues.
Uhouse Design Office by Robin, Wang emerges from the contemporary biophilic design movement that seeks to restore essential connections between human habitation and the natural world, a philosophical current that has gained particular resonance as interior architecture increasingly addresses psychological wellbeing alongside functional requirements, the work demonstrates exceptional sensitivity in its handling of the threshold between constructed environment and organic presence, allowing a mature olive tree to penetrate the horizontal datum of the ceiling plane and thereby collapse conventional spatial hierarchies, the technical achievement here involves careful calibration of proportional relationships ensuring the tree neither overwhelms nor diminishes within its architectural frame but rather achieves a state of dynamic equilibrium, the circular lighting element suspended at the intersection point functions as both practical necessity and symbolic gesture, suggesting celestial bodies orbiting the arboreal axis while providing directed illumination that reveals the sculptural complexity of trunk and branch, material choices demonstrate sophisticated restraint with warm-toned timber paneling establishing cultural warmth against the cooler grey floor plane, their dialogue mediated by carefully modulated artificial light sources that create distinct atmospheric zones within the unified space, the inclusion of the circular rug beneath the tree introduces traditional craft heritage into an otherwise contemporary vocabulary, its intricate patterning suggesting accumulated cultural memory that grounds the organic element within human temporal experience, secondary elements including the illuminated display cabinet and carefully positioned artwork establish this as a space of intellectual and aesthetic cultivation where objects of significance receive appropriate reverence, the subtle Vitruvian reference on the left wall quietly invokes Renaissance humanist ideals of proportion and human centrality within cosmic order, viewers might contemplate how this integration of living organism within built environment proposes new possibilities for workspace design that honors both productive function and contemplative renewal

- Design Challenge
- The paintings in the corridor are masterpieces of art made by designers in collaboration with Artificial Intelligence (AI), which are both a tribute and continuation of classic paintings, as well as an exploration and development of artistic expression in the digital age. Communication is an indispensable skill for designers, so the entire office area is kept open and shared, so that everyone can have their own place. Only one corridor is needed to organize all the decorative materials, and a face-to-face online meeting with clients can be realized here, which not only improves the communication efficiency, but also lets the matching inspiration come to us uninvited.
- Project Duration
- this program started at Jan 2024. It has been used as design office for Uhouse company now.
- Inspiration
- The symbolic olive tree element conveys the human-centered design purpose, and the story of Noah's Ark in Genesis opens the exploration of the space. The wooden cabinets, just like the luggage racks of the cabin, carry the core elements necessary for the designer to board the ark, and through the warm light and mirror design, it brings a touch of secluded mysticism to the office.
