About Tr88 House Recreational Center

The designer of Tr88 House, a recreational complex that includes a food court, a kids' play area, a trampoline, laser tag, mini golf, a kids' club, and a rooftop bar, was inspired by his own childhood nightmares. The primary objective of this proposal is to provide separate areas and methods for people of all ages to communicate with one another between the spaces, taking into account the location of this complex in Dubai and its use. The other goal is to create a visually green environment without employing actual plants.

Unique Properties
Tr88House recreational complex, inspired by childhood nightmares, consists of a food hall, kids play area, trampoline, laser tag, mini-golf, kids club, and rooftop lounge. The challenge was in figuring out how to approach architecture using a critical eye while also interacting with modern design and creating an environment that would appeal to people's senses and encourage interaction.
The intention was to abstractly, despite actual vegetation, incorporate nature into the area.
Dimensions & Packaging
approximate 100,000 square feet (9290-square meters)

Production Technology
All materials comply with Dubai laws on fire resistance. The architecture group created all of the details, including the biomimetic components, surreal objects, lighting fixtures, and various types of furniture, making the project immersive for both the designers and the consumers. Warm, vibrant mural paints were applied to finish the artwork.
Design Challenge
The "core and shell" challenge was the project's designated topic. Significant adjustments were needed to establish entrances and fire emergency exits after adding the roof. Also, the project structure was strengthened by the live and dead load calculations that were incorporated intothe building. The project's materials are all fireproof.
As compared to the music playing on the rooftop, the open area has acoustically treated 7-meter walls had a noise reduction of 45dB from 105dB.
Project Duration
The project started in February 2020 in Dubai and finished in March 2022.
Operation Flow
This complex contains several areas for entertainment and recreation as well as places to provide food and drink. Even in the food hall, a place where selling is the primary goal, there are games and enigmatic riddles to be found everywhere. This food court is transformed into an experimental space using the senses and games, which unintentionally involves a family of different ages who are not interested in architecture.
Research
Provisional calculations were made to balance the space areas based on family proportions and user ages. One of the goals of this project was importing 180 tree trunks that ranged in height from 5.5 to 11 meters and joining some of them to reach an impressive 18 meters. Trunk installation on the floor proved difficult. Owing to structural restrictions, hooks from the roof were utilized to support the weight of the metal component, while floor supports were employed to support the weight of the trees. It appears to be a system of interconnected treehouses.
Inspiration
Experiencing a visual display of a dream; inspired by childhood nightmares where everything is bigger, softer, and rounder. An exaggeration, on a scale uncommon in life, that depicts a duality: what if the humans are in a forest of towering pines, and what if they are tiny creatures in a meadow? Cocoon lights, hexagonal beehives, birds' feathers, and hands guiding people towards a direction to infinity, all on a large scale, are some of the mysterious details, which are all completely handmade.

Design Interview about Tr88 House Recreational Center

The concept of the universe we had in our heads began with a reoccurring nightmare in childhood, which might have happened to anybody. The designer turned this around, taking its positive characteristics – like unusual scenarios and striking details – and erasing its negative elements by using design methods and transforming the nightmare into a dream, enabling users to get lost in it and daydream. In this atmosphere, everything is bigger, rounder, softer, and bolder, which was inspired by child-like fantasy.

I just wanted to create an atmosphere so that the audience pays the most attention to the details of that complex. This is what I wanted to achieve. The design ideas of this project turn a space envelope with the purpose of selling into an opportunity to exchange and create new experiences. Creating an exaggerated and mysterious atmosphere and involving multiple senses, to create interaction between users and the architecture of the environment, are the main ingredients of Tr88House's architectural design. Exaggeration in a way that is not common in the real world, we can be humans in a Tr88House forest or small creatures in a meadow.

After receiving an award for a design, I might have plans to put new initiatives into action, carry them out, make them known, and improve them. I may utilize their awards to improve their chances of getting chosen for the next jobs, cooperate, expend resources on their professional growth, and support the architectural community.

This particular concept took about a month from the thinking stage to the initial development.

A recurring nightmare in childhood—which might have occurred to anyone—was the origin of the idea of the universe we had in our thoughts. I turned this around by taking its great qualities—like unexpected scenarios and eye-catching details—and removing its bad components using design principles. This allowed consumers to escape into the dreamlike world and fantasize. Also, we tried to include nature while taking into account Dubai's urban surroundings, but we did it in an abstract way that didn't rely on adding more vegetation. Tr88House as a result temporarily removes its users from the real world.

This collection's design, from stage 0 to stage 100, was created by my architectural firm, my design team, and I; it is not the property of any specific company.

My design technique has always aimed to create unique and unconventional environments using items that can be seen in the real world while maintaining a respectable quality. Tr88House required a unique interior design idea to be exceptional.

Other than the design team, no other designers participated in the creation of this design, and no other project's design served as an inspiration.

Concept, vision, personalization, creativity, fusing utility and design, sustainable and eco-friendly design, attention to detail and workmanship, and contextual significance may all be used to distinguish interior design projects from one another. These elements are crucial for giving it a distinct identity and differentiating it from others.

The number 88 in the name of the employer's firm and their desire, the term Tr88House was established as the ideal name for this project because of the trees in this concept.

It's surreal and abstract.

Yes, in fact, many human forces were used to perform its different parts, including paintings, sculptures, etc.

In order to develop and convey the project's fundamental concept, technology was crucial. Even in today's society, life would be quite different without technology.

To put the planned concept into practice and to learn more about Dubai's standards, architectural landmarks, and even related notions, extensive study was conducted.

One of the challenges of this project has been turning over the project at the core and shell stage as well as the implementation and introduction of the concept to the user and how they connect with each other.

The strategic choice to enter an international design competition is based on the designer's goals, the project's fit for the competition, and the potential value and possibilities it may provide.

Throughout the design process, I develop my technical knowledge, design concepts and aesthetics, problem-solving abilities, communication, and teamwork skills. I see the design process as a chance for both professional and personal development, and I use each project as an opportunity to advance my skills and broaden my perspective as a designer.

Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to ponder further on our architectural news today.
