About The Yihe Platinum Bay Sales Center Showroom
The Yihe Platinum Bay Sales Center is a showroom interior located in Nanjing, China. The interior covers 660 square meters and draws on the history of the Stone City. An elegant and simple space is embellished with warm-color decorations to expand the sense of scale. The lobby is outlined in vertical and horizontal lines. On the second floor, metal meshwork, tinted art glass, piano-keyboard-like stairs and paper fish sculptures mark the aisle. The reception desk is shaped like flowing water. The circulation route guides visitors through clearly arranged functions.
The Yihe Platinum Bay Sales Center Showroom by If Space Design positions itself within the contemporary trajectory of experiential retail environments where material innovation and chromatic sophistication converge to transform commercial transactions into memorable aesthetic encounters. The installation's most striking feature resides in its commanding dichroic glass partition, a technical achievement that harnesses interference coating technology to produce shifting spectral effects as viewing angles and lighting conditions change throughout the day. This work demonstrates the design team's nuanced understanding of how atmospheric qualities shape visitor perception, deploying the warm-to-cool gradient of the glass panels to create an emotional arc that guides movement through the space. The formal vocabulary draws upon both minimalist traditions of spatial purity and the more theatrical approaches of contemporary museum and gallery design, suggesting awareness of how luxury environments increasingly borrow from cultural institutions to establish prestige and contemplative qualities. Particularly accomplished passages include the integration of the arched doorway within the dichroic field, where the classical proportion of the arch form softens the technological modernity of the material, creating dialogue between historical and contemporary architectural languages. The biomorphic reception counter anchors human-scale activity within the monumental volume, its organic curves providing psychological comfort against the geometric precision of the surrounding architecture. Material selections throughout reveal sophisticated understanding of surface interaction, from the cool neutrality of the terrazzo floor that provides visual rest, to the metallic warmth of the framing elements that mediate between cool and warm zones. Visitors might contemplate how such environments shape our expectations of quality and care, and how architectural atmospheres communicate values before any explicit messaging occurs.

- Materials: Metal meshwork, rock slab, tinted art glass, corrugated stainless steel, paper sculpture
- Design Challenge
- The largest challenge lies in the highlight design. In order to present the perfect effect of the glass side of staircase, it needs to consider the super long materials, the color gradient and the installation order and ensure the installation of irregular-sized glass. And the paper installation needs to produce many samples to make sure the best quality and visual effects.
- Project Duration
- The project started in January 2020 and finished in June 2020 in Nanjing, China.
- Operation Flow
- The circulation route was supposed to be rational and beneficial to sale and improve visiting experiences. Each functional division should be well arranged and closely connect with each other. Natural light was preferred and lighting should be enhanced. The spatial layout should be reasonable, stood out the advantages of the building itself and highlighted the additional display function to satisfy daily needs of showing visitors.
- Research
- Considering that the New District lacks profound and abundant cultural background, the designer integrated the Yiju brand spirit and historical and cultural preservation into the project. The project shows the personality of the designer, breaks the idea that "Hexi district is the cultural desert of Nanjing", and steps onto a new stage of the Yihe series.
- Inspiration
- The space of the lobby is outlined holistically in vertical and horizontal directions. The aisle space on the second floor are highlighted by the components of metals, tinted glass, piano-keyboard-like stairs, and artistic installations like paper fish sculptures, which can lift the space's visual effect and flexibility in the meantime. The reception desk is spliced in a form of flowing water, echoing with the background of swimming fish.
