About Sun Valley Healing Exclusive Store
Sun Valley is a bathhouse interior designed as a wellness and healing space in Tianjin, China. A traditional bathhouse was converted into a set of connected zones, including a water bar, a dining area, a healing area, and a cashier area. Curved steel framing, hyperbolic plaster walls, Italian textured art paint, and solid wood form the main surfaces. Soft lighting systems and a parametric water circulation design support comfort and energy efficiency. The open layout guides guests smoothly between all zones.
Within the evolving discourse of contemporary retail and wellness interior design, Sun Hao's Sun Valley Healing Exclusive Store represents a distinctive synthesis of sculptural furniture-making traditions, organic modernist spatial principles, and the emerging philosophy of experiential healing environments. The design appears to engage thoughtfully with the phenomenology of threshold and arrival, employing the commanding golden counter as both functional reception element and symbolic gateway—a sculptural presence that simultaneously grounds visitors in material warmth while suggesting transformation through its voluminous, almost primordial form. The technical achievement evident in the counter's execution demonstrates remarkable integration of traditional metalworking aesthetics with contemporary fabrication precision; the hammered surface texture evokes artisanal heritage while the flawless torus geometry suggests advanced manufacturing capabilities. Compositionally, the space orchestrates a sophisticated dialogue between horizontal and vertical emphasis: the expansive counter anchors the ground plane with gravitational authority, while the soaring arched openings and ascending spiral staircase draw perception upward, creating a spatial narrative of groundedness yielding to aspiration. The chromatic restraint—limiting the palette essentially to gold, warm neutrals, and strategic green—allows each element maximum visual presence while maintaining the contemplative atmosphere appropriate to a healing context. The spiral staircase, rendered in deep verdant tones, functions as both circulatory element and symbolic reference, perhaps invoking natural growth patterns, the ascending journey of wellness, or the contemplative spiral found across wisdom traditions. Visitors encountering this space might consider how the design balances luxury signification with genuine warmth, employing precious materials and sophisticated lighting not for ostentation but for their capacity to create sanctuary and elevate daily transactions into meaningful rituals of care and connection.
Press Kit
- Unique Properties
- This design transforms a traditional bathhouse into a multisensory healing space, integrating poetic Oriental aesthetics with modern spatial logic. Through the interplay of flowing hyperbolic surfaces, minimalist structures, and emotional lighting, it elevates the bathing experience into a ritual of comfort and inner balance.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- The project includes water bar, dining, healing, and cashier areas, integrating complex functions within a seamless spatial system. Hyperbolic wall geometry, parametric pool overflow design, modular furniture, and intelligent lighting define the technical structure and spatial programming across all zones.

- Production Technology
- The project employs curved steel framing, hyperbolic plaster walls, Italian textured art paint, real solid wood, soft lighting systems, and parametric water circulation design. These materials and technologies are precisely coordinated to achieve seamless transitions, sensory resonance, and energy-efficient performance.
- Design Challenge
- The biggest challenge was avoiding repetition with the previous store while achieving meaningful innovation. Balancing sensory aesthetics with spatial functionality required overcoming constraints in traditional perceptions of bathing spaces. Integrating healing, dining, and hospitality required cross-industry research and bold spatial redefinition.
- Project Duration
- The project started in February 2024 in Tianjin, China and finished in December 2024.
- Operation Flow
- Guests enter a fluid space where visual openness and service transparency guide movement. Interactive touchpoints such as the open water bar, healing zones, and breakfast area create smooth transitions. Spatial layering and light dynamics respond to user rhythm, making the entire experience emotionally engaging and restorative.
- Research
- User centered research focused on elevating customer experience in bathing spaces. Methods included service model benchmarking, behavior flow mapping, and material testing. Tools involved spatial simulation and parametric modeling. Stakeholders included designers, brand operators, and customers. Results showed sensory immersion and service segmentation improved satisfaction and brand perception.
- Inspiration
- Inspired by the rise of emotional consumption and wellness demand, the design draws from five-star hotel hospitality, natural rhythm, and Eastern philosophy. It seeks to redefine bathing spaces as holistic healing destinations, where comfort, service, and sensory stimulation merge into a contemporary sanctuary for the body and soul.
