About Spirito Table Lamp
Spirito is a table lamp inspired by the glass ball used in spiritualistic rituals. The lamp has the stylized silhouette of a classic table lamp and is made of transparent blown glass with a gradient coating. The LED light source is placed in the base and directs the light upward, so the upper shade glows without visible wires or metal supports. The light is then reflected downward and forms a halo on the table surface. The glass elements are stacked on each other without fasteners, which removes visual noise. The lamp measures 420 mm in height and 260 mm in diameter.
Positioned within the continuum of contemporary lighting design that traces its lineage through the material investigations of twentieth-century masters, Spirito Table Lamp by Alexey Danilin represents a sophisticated synthesis of sculptural presence and functional illumination. The work demonstrates exceptional command of material dialogue, orchestrating conversations between the smoky translucency of hand-finished glass and the mirror-bright surfaces of precision-machined metal components. The shade's generous mushroom form references historical archetypes of domestic lighting while its smoked glass treatment introduces contemporary sensibilities, filtering and softening the light source within while maintaining visual access to the lamp's internal architecture. Technical accomplishment manifests in the seamless transitions between components: the stem rises with graceful trumpet expansion to meet the shade's horizontal emphasis, creating visual continuity through shared curvilinear vocabulary. The chromatic restraint operates strategically, allowing the warm amber luminosity emanating from the base to function as the composition's chromatic accent against the otherwise neutral palette of grays, silvers, and blacks. One observes how the designer has considered the lamp not merely as light source but as light sculpture, the object equally compelling whether illuminated or dormant. The base configuration, with its darker ring supporting the luminous stem junction, suggests grounded stability while the upward-flowing light implies aspiration and elevation. This work invites contemplation of how contemporary design objects negotiate between functional imperative and aesthetic ambition, between transparency and opacity, between the warmth of illumination and the cool elegance of refined materials. How might one's experience of domestic space transform through the presence of such deliberately conceived luminous sculpture?

- Unique Properties
- The stylized silhouette of the classic table lamp resembles a magic ball or cast. Thanks to the lighting calculations of the light flux and the diffusing angle of the glass, the light flux from below makes the ceiling luminous. It is coated with gradient staining. And at the bottom of the lamp with help. Re-reflected light is created by aureole. The lamp feels airy and fantastic thanks to modern LED technology. And reminds of the magic of the past.

- Production Technology
- In order to create the image of the "magic ball," reprinted light was used. LED directs the light flux up and it fills the ceiling with light without wires and metal reinforcement. Next, the light flux is re-reflected from the gradient painted ceiling and directed down, creating an aura around the lamp. The lamp is arranged according to the principle of matryoshka. Glass elements are put on each other, without fasteners. Getting rid of visual noise. Strength is not lost by tight fit.
- Design Challenge
- For the similitude of a magical levitating object, the designer studied the experience of subject designers. Therefore, it was decided to make a lamp out of transparent glass with a gradient, and a stylized silhouette of a classic table lamp. However, the light source moved down from the top of the lamp. And the principles of re-reflected light were used. First, it was necessary to use a lot of fasteners, but in the end the designer came up with the principle of matryoshka for putting on glass elements and got rid of them.
- Project Duration
- The project started in April 2023 in Moscow and finished in August 2023 in Moscow, and was exhibited in Interlight Russia 2023 in September 2023.
- Operation Flow
- This luminaire collection has unique visual properties. The lamp resembles a levitating object, its upper ceiling is filled with light, although wires or metal reinforcement do not lead to it. It also feels airy thanks to a transparent silhouette of blown glass. And around the lamp, an aureole of light forms on the surface of the table. It can be used on the desktop, on the bedside table or decorate different areas of your home.
- Research
- In search of an idea, the designer turned to the history of mysticism, to the experience of the ancient Celts in the British islands, and then to modern spiritualism, and the work of Allan Kardec. Thanks to him, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the upper strata of the aristocracy, bourgeoisie and bohemians of Europe began to conduct spiritualistic sessions. I studied what they looked like. It turned out that they again began to use the "magic crystal" in the form of a glass ball. The modern image of flying drives has also spread.
- Inspiration
- Magic has always attracted people. The most sacred for us are predictions of the future and knowledge of the otherworld. Spiritualistic rituals have always inspired designers. The image of a glass ball in which you can see the future and through which you can communicate with spirits became the prototype of the collection. Similar magic crystals were used as early as 2000 BC. Druids of the ancient Celts. The title was inspired by the books of the founder of modern spiritualism, Allan Kardek.
