About Luna Light For Kitchen Appliances
Luna is a suspended kitchen lamp designed to light the cooking area. The lamp body measures 120 by 4.5 by 1.6 cm and is made of black anodized steel and glass. Gesture control allows the light to be dimmed, and ambient lighting is also available. Luna communicates with NikolaTesla and Lhov appliances and is compatible with voice assistants and Elica applications. The Balance System uses adaptable cables, so the height can be adjusted from 50 to 200 cm. The linear and minimal form is intended to suit different kitchen spaces.
Fabrizio Crisa's Luna Light For Kitchen Appliances emerges from contemporary design traditions that prioritize the harmonious integration of functional necessity with sculptural presence, reflecting a broader movement toward considered minimalism in residential environments. The pendant fixture demonstrates exceptional compositional restraint, its elongated horizontal profile creating a deliberate visual anchor that organizes the spatial experience below while maintaining sufficient visual lightness to avoid overwhelming the carefully curated interior. Technical accomplishment is evident in the precision of the fixture's geometric form, where clean edges and consistent matte surface treatment suggest manufacturing excellence and thoughtful material specification. The designer appears to engage with the challenge of kitchen illumination through both practical and aesthetic lenses, positioning the light source at optimal height for task lighting while simultaneously offering a sculptural element that reads as intentional design rather than mere utility. The work participates in a lineage of linear pendant designs that emerged from mid-century modernism yet speaks with distinctly contemporary vocabulary through its material choices and proportional relationships. Within its setting, the fixture enters into productive dialogue with surrounding elements: the warm organic textures of oak and plaster, the dramatic geological patterns of veined marble, and the soft natural light filtering through generous fenestration. This contextual sensitivity suggests an understanding of light fixtures as relational objects rather than isolated products, designed to enhance rather than dominate their environments. The inclusion of active culinary elements, a steaming pot and fresh ingredients, invites contemplation of how thoughtful lighting design supports and elevates the rituals of daily life, transforming functional spaces into considered environments for human gathering and nourishment.

- Production Technology
- The creation of Luna is the result of specific technologies and production methods for each material: from the cutting and black anodization of steel to the cutting of glass, to the careful assembly of each component. A precise and integrated process that guarantees quality, resistance, and aesthetic excellence in every detail of the product.
- Design Challenge
- The challenge was to connect Luna to certain Elica products, integrating them harmoniously without compromising their aesthetics or trivializing their design. The choice and combination of materials also required great attention, with the aim of creating a clean, balanced product that was perfectly consistent with the style and environment of the kitchen.
- Project Duration
- The project began in February 2024 and ended in February 2026; it will be exhibited at the Salone del Mobile in April 2026.
- Operation Flow
- Interacting with Luna is simple and intuitive: it can be done via gesture control, voice assistants, or through integration with Lhov and NikolaTesla, for a truly seamless and connected experience. In addition, the ability to manually adjust the height of the lamp ensures immediate and personalized control, adapting perfectly to the needs of the kitchen space.
- Research
- The research behind Luna stems from the need to bring the ideal lighting to the kitchen, above complete products such as Lhov and NikolaTesla, to best illuminate the work area. The challenge was to create a lamp that was consistent with the existing range. The result is a minimalist and essential product that is also customizable and intuitive to use.
- Inspiration
- Luna was born from the desire to better illuminate the cooking area, following the introduction of NikolaTesla and Lhov, which eliminated the light from the hood under the wall cabinet. Luna is a dedicated lamp, in line with Elica's design, which combines performance and aesthetics. Height-adjustable, with dimmable or ambient lighting and matte or glossy finishes. Luna does not just illuminate it interprets the space, enhances gestures and becomes part of the experience in the kitchen.
