About Silk Rhyme Public Space
Silk Rhyme is a public space in a residential building, with an area of 528 square meters. The long interior is divided into three zones. The central zone carries the heaviest flow of people and holds a parcel delivery service and a coffee bar. One side forms an active area with a gym, a yoga and meditation room, bathing facilities and an outdoor swimming pool. The other side is quiet, with a cafe bar, a banquet and conference table, a piano room and a library. Light stone, marble texture and light strips create a calm and elegant atmosphere.
Silk Rhyme Public Space engages contemporary spatial design discourse through its synthesis of architectural restraint and sculptural intervention, positioning the reception environment within traditions of hospitality design that seek to transform functional thresholds into memorable experiential sequences. The compositional achievement demonstrates sophisticated understanding of spatial hierarchy and visual rhythm, establishing the overhead installation as primary focal drama while maintaining the reception desk's functional centrality through careful proportional relationships and material emphasis, the curved desk form finished in pale neutral tones providing grounded counterpoint to the ascending black spherical elements. The ceiling treatment reveals particular technical accomplishment, with the smooth, organic recess executed in compound curves that suggest digital design and precision fabrication, the concealed cove lighting producing graduated warmth that enhances the sculptural quality of the architectural envelope while establishing ambient luminosity that complements rather than competes with natural daylight entering through the generous glazing system. The suspended installation demonstrates meticulous compositional judgment in its distribution logic, creating density variation that produces visual movement and organic naturalism while maintaining overall geometric control, each element's scale and positioning contributing to an aggregate form that reads simultaneously as unified gesture and collection of individual components, the matte black finish providing maximum contrast against light backgrounds while absorbing rather than reflecting illumination to maintain visual clarity. Material selection reveals design sophistication in its restrained palette and quality hierarchy, with polished stone flooring establishing spatial continuity and luminous reflection, warm-toned ceiling and wall surfaces creating atmospheric softness, and the precision of metal-framed glazing systems contributing structural clarity and transparency that dissolves interior-exterior boundaries to integrate verdant landscape as visual extension of the designed environment. The work suggests thematic exploration of threshold, transition, and welcome, transforming the utilitarian reception function into spatial poetry that honors arrival, invites contemplation, and establishes institutional character through design rather than overt branding, the careful balance of sculptural drama and functional clarity demonstrating that programmatic requirements and aesthetic aspiration need not exist in tension but can achieve synthesis through disciplined design intelligence. One might observe how the installation's descending trajectory mirrors natural phenomena while simultaneously evoking digital particle systems, creating layered readings that reward extended attention and invite consideration of how contemporary design increasingly draws upon both organic observation and computational generation to produce forms that feel simultaneously familiar and novel, grounded and ethereal, purposeful and contemplative.

- Production Technology
- The interior is presented with light tone of stone and environmental paint, with the beautiful temperament of Chinese silk as the inspiration, light strip and marble texture to show the light luxury and elegance.
The art installation is specially designed at the main entrance and exit. The black sand, which slopes from the ceiling, gradually accumulates and piles on the floor, which means that "sands could accumulate into a tower". The contrast color of black and white enhances the visual image. - Design Challenge
- The technical challenge of this space is how to deal with the problem of high window wind pressure, which needs to design a beautiful style in the premise of ensuring the stability and safety of the building structure.
- Project Duration
- The project took 6 months to finish and was completed in September 2023 in Taoyuan City.
- Operation Flow
- This public space serves as a fortress to guard the building, while allows for the freedom to move in and out the building, with each block providing two-way doors. The floor-to-ceiling windows on both sides maximize the contact area between the interior and exterior, introduce the garden scenery on both sides into the interior, and also make the vision transparent and the airflow comfortable.
- Research
- In this field, the traditional Chinese silk element and traditional courtyard form are cleverly integrated, and the overall atmosphere and visual effect are enhanced by the beauty of art installation, lighting and design, and the function of each block is ensured. The moving line and space are configured for hotel-style comfort planning, dividing the needs according to dynamic and static demands, facilitating the manager to improve the service quality, allowing the residents to smoothly expand their home field, and allowing the life function to continue in the public facilities of the building.
- Inspiration
- The service of this space needs to meet the demands of all the residents in the building. Through zoning, the design integrates the diversity of functions with the thinking of hotel management, creating a modern, simple, elegant and luxurious atmosphere, which not only allows the estate manager to provide orderly service, but also allows the residents to enjoy proper care all the time.
