Over Modular System Furniture

About Over Modular System Furniture

Over is a modular furniture system designed for bathrooms. The system is built around supporting structural elements in steel, which allow light and flexible compositions. Countertops for washbasins are made of MDF, while drawers and storage units combine MDF and steel. Integrated parts such as tops, mirrors, drawers and accessories can be arranged in many ways. A wide range of colors and finishes is available. Over aims to give the bathroom a clear structure that is easy to use and simple to personalize.

Nic Srl's Over Modular System Furniture exemplifies the contemporary evolution of bathroom design toward holistic spatial thinking, wherein storage, grooming, and organizational functions coalesce into a unified architectural intervention rather than disparate utilitarian objects. The system demonstrates the enduring influence of mid-century modular design principles, particularly the Castiglioni brothers' investigations into industrial elegance and Vico Magistretti's explorations of essential form, while simultaneously participating in the current discourse around wellness-oriented domestic environments that prioritize visual calm alongside functional efficiency. The technical achievement resides in the tension system's apparent simplicity masking considerable engineering sophistication, the slender vertical poles maintaining structural integrity while supporting cantilevered shelving, integrated towel rails, and substantial cabinet volumes without visual heaviness. Chromatic decisions reveal particular sensitivity, the terracotta vessel basin functioning as both functional element and compositional accent, its warm earthen tone establishing dialogue with the champagne metallic framework while preventing the palette from reading as clinical or cold. The circular mirror's integrated illumination merits attention for its successful navigation between practical task lighting and atmospheric contribution, the diffused ring creating a gentle halo effect that softens the surrounding space while providing functional visibility. Material juxtapositions demonstrate refined understanding of tactile and optical experience, smooth metallic surfaces playing against matte lacquered volumes and the granular texture of what appears to be a lime-wash or mineral-finish wall treatment. The open shelving arrangement invites personal curation, transforming utilitarian storage into display opportunity, suggesting the designers' recognition that contemporary bathrooms increasingly function as spaces of identity expression. One might contemplate how such integrated systems reshape our relationship to daily rituals, elevating routine activities through considered material and spatial experience.
