About Oriental Villa Sales Office

Oriental Villa is a sales office interior in Huzhou, China. The space covers 650 square meters and draws on the architecture, gardens and water town landscape of Nanxun. Ancient Chinese paintings are reinterpreted through embroidery, ink layering and foil burning. Sculptural elements made of platinum crystal acrylic represent water in several forms. Metal, marble, wood veneer, leather and fabric are used to add texture. Changing light and cultural motifs guide visitors through the space in a calm sequence.

Within the distinguished lineage of contemporary exhibition design that synthesizes heritage aesthetics with modern spatial thinking, this sales office environment by Hangzhou Meizhi Home Design Co., Ltd emerges as a thoughtfully orchestrated meditation on material dialogue and cultural continuity. The space demonstrates remarkable sophistication in its deployment of the linear ceiling lattice, a contemporary interpretation of traditional wooden screen architecture that diffuses illumination while establishing rhythmic visual coherence across the expansive volume. The sculptural centerpiece commands attention through its apparent capturing of liquid dynamism in permanent form, suggesting both ancient bronze-casting traditions and contemporary artistic expression through organic abstraction. One observes how the designers have calibrated material relationships with considerable sensitivity: the warmth of wood and woven screen surfaces enters into productive tension with the cool minerality of marble and polished concrete, while bronze and amber metallic tones provide chromatic threading throughout the composition. The suspended kinetic installation introduces an element of gentle movement and light play that activates the atmospheric quality of the space, its descending elements perhaps evoking natural phenomena such as falling leaves or water droplets frozen in descent. The floor treatment merits particular attention for its integration of sinuous inlaid channels that transform the walking surface into a decorative field, their organic curves echoing both the sculptural forms above and traditional motifs suggesting flowing water or cloud formations. The overall environment suggests an approach to commercial space that transcends mere transaction, instead proposing an immersive experience wherein visitors encounter carefully curated moments of beauty and cultural resonance. What role might such aesthetic richness play in shaping our understanding of dwelling and the aspirational dimensions of domestic life?

Production Technology
The project utilizes embroidery, ink layering, and foil burning techniques to reinterpret ancient paintings. Sculptural elements made from platinum crystal acrylic reinterpret water in diverse forms. Main materials include metal, marble, wood veneer, leather, and fabric, all selected to enhance texture and atmosphere.
Design Challenge
The main challenge was translating ancient paintings into three dimensional, textural spatial expressions. Adapting embroidery and ink techniques for modern interiors required extensive testing. Balancing authenticity with contemporary aesthetics while preserving emotional depth was also complex but essential.
Project Duration
The project started in March 2025 in Huzhou, China and finished in May 2025.
Operation Flow
Visitors transition through the space in an emotional sequence from curiosity to tranquility via changing light, textures, and cultural symbols. Artworks and sculptures guide their attention and mood, creating an immersive environment where aesthetics, history, and spatial flow interact organically.
Research
This was qualitative research focused on cultural integration in spatial design. Field studies in Nanxun were conducted, analyzing architectural features, garden typologies, and traditional artworks. Techniques were tested with artisans to apply painting translations. The result is a culturally immersive, emotionally resonant space with significant influence on heritage-inspired design.
Inspiration
The inspiration comes from Nanxun's local culture, water town landscapes, and historical legacy. The design seeks to translate these emotional and spatial memories into a modern narrative that allows users to journey through curiosity, contemplation, and comfort, evoking a deep connection to place and heritage.
