About Mira Residential Apartment
Mira means one hundred plus rainbows in Sanskrit and is best described as a fusion of oriental elements and modern design. Its properties and choices of textures make it one of a kind. The designers decided to create spaces with different temperaments generated by products, colors and materials. Many design factors, such as over dimensional lighting fixtures or eye-catching furniture, come to play. The selection of materials also plays a role in the warmth of the environment, as they integrated different finishings like wood, white marble and clean colored fabrics.
Rosadela Serulle's residential design presents a compelling exploration of sculptural lighting as architectural protagonist, demonstrating how carefully choreographed illumination elements can transcend mere functional necessity to become defining spatial gestures that organize perception, establish hierarchy, and activate volumetric space with dramatic formal presence. Situating itself within contemporary luxury residential design discourse that privileges material authenticity, restrained yet impactful color deployment, and the synthesis of organic and geometric formal languages, the interior reflects design sensibilities that draw upon mid-century organic modernism's biomorphic vocabularies while engaging contemporary parametric design's fluid geometries and sophisticated Italian and Belgian design traditions' emphasis on proportion, material quality, and edited restraint. The compositional achievement centers upon the remarkable overhead pendant installation, where varied sculptural fixtures in matte carbon black create a suspended constellation that functions simultaneously as lighting infrastructure, kinetic sculpture, and spatial punctuation, their staggered heights and diverse organic profiles generating three-dimensional visual rhythm that rewards viewing from multiple positions and creates dynamic shadow play across ceiling and wall surfaces as ambient light shifts throughout the day. The introduction of a singular vibrant crimson element draped across one pendant fixture represents a masterful chromatic intervention, a controlled explosion of saturated color that electrifies the otherwise neutral environment without destabilizing its serene foundation, demonstrating sophisticated understanding of accent color deployment as both visual anchor and psychological energizer. Material selection and juxtaposition reveal exceptional design intelligence: the luminous white upholstery's pristine expansiveness provides visual breathing room and light-reflective surface amplification, the dark veined marble table grounds the composition with geological weight and introduces natural pattern complexity, the pale organic seating forms offer sculptural counterpoint through their flowing biomorphic geometries, and the rich timber paneling supplies warmth, texture, and vertical rhythm that prevents the space from reading as overly austere or clinically minimal. The spatial organization demonstrates sophisticated zoning strategies that define functional areas through furniture placement and lighting focus while maintaining visual continuity and flow, the asymmetrical balance preventing static symmetry while ensuring compositional stability, the careful calibration of scale relationships between oversized lighting elements and human-scaled seating creating dynamic tension that animates the environment. Lighting design emerges as the project's conceptual and formal heart, the dramatic pendants providing focused task illumination and sculptural presence, recessed fixtures offering ambient wash that highlights architectural surfaces, and the warm color temperature throughout creating atmospheric intimacy despite generous spatial volume, this layered approach demonstrating understanding that lighting functions simultaneously as technical necessity, spatial definer, mood creator, and artistic medium. The design invites consideration of how residential environments might balance the competing demands of livable comfort and artistic expression, how sculptural gesture and functional necessity can be synthesized rather than held in opposition, and how restrained material palettes punctuated with carefully deployed chromatic intensity can create spaces of both serenity and stimulation, environments that support daily life while elevating routine domestic activities through spatial beauty and thoughtful material engagement.

- Production Technology
- One of the most interesting parts of the design process was the living room wall, the designer chose to create contrast with this background. She designed wooden panels in five different ways, so that when uniting them they would come together as a puzzle. These lasered cut wooden pieces show the level of craftmanship and creativity. Not only does this elevate the living room but because of its location, it can be admired by the entrance, study and dining room.
- Design Challenge
- The hardest part of this project was the high level of finishing that the designer wanted to achieve. From the strenuous process of selecting the desired materials to its installation. The designer chose to work with local craftsmen for all of the built in furnitures per area. She describes the design process as simple compared to the final execution and level of demand she envisioned. Its a combination of purity and boldness that can make one achieve greatness.
- Project Duration
- Located in one of the most prestigious residential areas of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Miras interior design planning took less than a year and exactly five months to execute. The involvement was from floor selection to the minimalist detail. The completion of the project was January of this year 2025.
- Operation Flow
- The journey to bring this luxurious apartment to life was not without its challenges says the designer. The high level of finishing demanded meticulous attention to detail, from the selection of materials to their precise installation. The design process, while straightforward, required a keen eye for harmony and balance to achieve the desired level of sophistication. In line with modern sustainability practices, the apartment features environmentally conscious elements.
- Research
- Designing a luxurious apartment such as the one described involves a multi faceted approach that requires extensive research. The designer discovered classic elements that have stood the test of time, such as the use of white marble, which can also be integrated into contemporary design. Additionally, exploring the cultural significance of materials and design motifs can add depth and authenticity to the apartments Asian aesthetic.
- Inspiration
- Inspired by the clients love for the Asian culture Mira, has many attributes that make it special. Mira, in Sanskrit means hundred plus rainbows, the ideal name for this project, as it embraces ethnicity converging with contemporary design.
