About Liv Dach Rlp Logo Design
Liv Dach Rlp is a logo design created for a guild association of roofing crafts in Germany. The mark avoids the roof shapes that appear in most logos of roofing associations and companies. Simple geometric shapes were combined to form a clean and timeless symbol. The logo is scalable and works both as a small favicon and on large billboards. The design supports consistent communication across digital and print media. The simplicity of the symbol makes the association easy to recognize and easy to remember.
Visual identity systems designed for contemporary regional organizations increasingly embrace geometric abstraction and kinetic patterning as vehicles for communicating connectivity, accessibility, and forward-looking institutional values, and this accomplished logo design demonstrates how reduction to essential formal elements paired with dynamic linear vocabulary can generate both immediate recognition and conceptual depth. The logomark positioned at upper left establishes clear institutional presence through three interlocking angular planes rendered in cool neutral tones, their perpendicular junctions and folded-ribbon morphology suggesting architectural thinking, dimensional consideration, and structural integrity, while the accompanying stacked letterforms provide alphanumeric identification through condensed sans-serif typography of geometric precision and rationalist clarity. The extended pattern field comprising multiple curved parallel pathways emanating from and echoing the logomark's formal DNA demonstrates sophisticated understanding of contemporary identity design's evolution beyond static mark toward flexible system, where core visual vocabulary proliferates across applications while maintaining coherent genetic relationship to source forms. The chromatic strategy of vibrant warm red ground paired with crisp white linear elements achieves maximum visibility and optical impact while remaining producible across diverse media contexts from digital screens to architectural installations, the restricted two-color approach reflecting both economic pragmatism and aesthetic discipline aligned with International Typographic Style precedents. The curved linear elements themselves warrant particular attention for their technical accomplishment, maintaining consistent stroke weight throughout complex trajectories while creating rhythmic interval variations that prevent visual monotony, their parallel relationships suggesting topographic contours, flow diagrams, transportation networks, or data visualization aesthetics—visual languages associated with systematic thinking, organizational clarity, and infrastructural connectivity. One might observe how the composition balances rational geometric discipline evident in the logomark's angular precision against more organic gestural quality in the flowing curved extensions, this synthesis of structured order and dynamic movement perhaps reflecting institutional mission encompassing both stability and innovation, heritage and progress, systematic organization and adaptive responsiveness. The material presentation through what appears to be printed substrate with subtle surface texture and gentle lighting variation adds welcome tactile dimension to otherwise purely optical graphic communication, grounding the design in physical reality and suggesting eventual application across environmental contexts where visitors encounter the identity through wayfinding signage, architectural graphics, publication design, and spatial branding. The work engages productively with mid-century Swiss design legacy while avoiding nostalgic pastiche, instead deploying modernist formal vocabulary toward contemporary communicative ends and demonstrating how geometric abstraction remains vital expressive territory when executed with formal intelligence and conceptual clarity. How might viewers interpret the relationship between the compact, architectonic logomark and the expansive, flowing pattern field—as metaphor for organizational reach extending from institutional core, as visual representation of services radiating outward to constituencies, or simply as elegant formal variation exploring a unified design language across scales and contexts?

- Unique Properties
- This is the logo design for the Guild Association of Roofing Crafts. The goal was to create a timeless and clean logo without using typical roof shapes, which are featured in over 90% of logos for roofing associations and companies.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- The logo works equally well as a small favicon and on large-scale billboards.
- Tags
- logo, branding, corporate design, cd, ci
- Production Technology
- Using and combining simple shapes in Adobe Illustrator.
- Design Challenge
- The most challenging part was creating a symbol that stands out from other logos in the industry while still gaining acceptance among the members.
- Project Duration
- The project started in September 2023 in Hilden, Germany and finished in January 2024.
- Operation Flow
- The new corporate design ensures consistent communication across all channels and levels, creating a unified brand experience. It's intuitive and adaptable, making it easy to apply in various contexts, from digital to print. The updated visuals improve recognition and engagement by resonating with the target audience. Key elements like typography, color schemes, and imagery are optimized for clarity and impact, resulting in better performance, stronger brand identity, and seamless interaction for all users.
- Research
- First, several interviews were conducted with representatives of the association. Subsequently, the designs of roofing companies from other federal states and guilds were analyzed. The strengths and weaknesses of these designs were evaluated and discussed with the association. Close collaboration with the client was essential to ensure that the result not only looked good but was also fully understood in its entirety.
- Inspiration
- The design needed to work across all platforms and be scalable. It should remain versatile and effective in both digital and print media, not just today but also in the years and decades to come. The simplicity of the logo makes it easy to remember.
