About Heytea Lab Shenzhen OCT Harbor Store

Heytea Lab Shenzhen OCT Harbor is a retail interior design for a tea brand flagship store. The space covers 1300 square meters and is divided into five themed laboratories. The peripheral lab, the ice-making lab, the dessert lab and the illustration lab are placed on the first floor, and the tea geek lab is placed on the second floor. A geometric staircase connects both levels and forms the visual center of the interior. Strip lights and light films are inlaid in the ceiling and the metal grilles. Aluminum foam sheets on the side walls contrast with satin brushed metal.

Within the evolving landscape of contemporary retail design, Uno Chan's interior for this specialty beverage establishment represents a distinguished contribution to the dialogue between industrial materiality and experiential refinement that characterizes the most thoughtful commercial spaces of the early twenty-first century. The designer appears to engage deliberately with the architectural vocabulary of high modernism, reinterpreting its commitment to honest material expression and spatial clarity through a contemporary lens that embraces the theatrical potential of light and surface. The dramatic diagonal structural elements, rendered in what appears to be brushed stainless steel, function simultaneously as practical support and sculptural gesture, their angular trajectories creating dynamic tension against the horizontal regularity of the slatted ceiling system above. This ceiling treatment emerges as perhaps the most technically accomplished element of the composition, its precisely calibrated aluminum louvers modulating natural and artificial light into an even, almost ethereal glow that softens the industrial character of the metallic palette. The material selections demonstrate sophisticated understanding of how surface qualities influence spatial perception, with the granular warmth of terrazzo providing grounding counterpoint to the cool reflectivity of polished metals, while the matte surfaces of cementitious walls and floors absorb rather than compete for visual attention. The singular chromatic intervention of emerald-tinted glazing visible through the structural frame introduces organic reference within this predominantly technological aesthetic, suggesting perhaps a meditation on the relationship between nature and artifice that resonates with the establishment's connection to botanical beverages. Visitors might consider how this environment transforms a quotidian transaction into an experience of spatial contemplation.

Production Technology
The strip lights and light films are inlaid in the ceiling and the metal grilles to highlight the simplicity and elegance of the space. And the aluminum foam sheet covering the side walls is in contrast with the delicate satin brushed metal. Sitting by the window, you can have a great view of the luxuriant green and feel relaxed and refreshed.
Design Challenge
The ceiling of the Tea Geek Lab is designed according to the pitched roof to form blocks of different textures, against which a moon-shaped art decoration was created. With the moon hanging against the "starry sky" on the LED screen, a beautiful picture is gradually unfolding before people.
Project Duration
The project started in March 2019 in Shenzhen and finished in September 2019 in Shenzhen.
Operation Flow
The geometric staircase leads customers to different labs on the first and second floors, and it is also the visual center of space.
Research
Today, in face of the new consumer groups and new consumerism, how can we help Heytea, a popular new tea brand, to convey its individuality and to demonstrate its business strategies in product innovation, experience innovation and business integration? Optimizing every possible consumption procedure and creating immersive and interactive consumer experience are the basic logic for DOME DESIGN in the design of Shenzhen Heytea Lab.
Inspiration
Facing the complex background and business environment, the designer is based on the insights of the consumption experiences that the brand will bring to the consumers. The design goes beyond the conventional reference system, deconstructs the consumers' demands and feelings, and extends the potential value of Heytea in the background. Finally, by planning and operating, designers have successfully created the space value and new experiences with unique creativity.
