About Green Light Tea Garden Packaging
Green Light Tea Garden is a packaging design for organic tea. The paper is made from used tea leaf residue and recycled tea bag paper. The handmade long fiber paper is printed with environmentally friendly ink. The illustrations show four native animals of Pinglin, Taiwan: the collared owlet, the Formosan muntjac, the Swinhoe pheasant and the emerald green tree frog. Each animal is placed in a local setting of cloud, mountain, forest and water. The packaging includes a gift box and a smaller bag, and explains the link between organic tea and the protection of nature.
Onebook Design Studio's Green Light Tea Garden Packaging exemplifies the contemporary renaissance of illustrated packaging design, where surface decoration elevates commercial products into objects of aesthetic contemplation and gifting ritual. The work demonstrates masterful integration across multiple panels, transforming what could be four separate packages into a unified visual statement that rewards both individual appreciation and collective display. Drawing upon traditions of botanical and natural history illustration while employing distinctly contemporary graphic sensibilities, the design achieves a balance between detailed naturalistic observation and stylized decorative flattening that feels simultaneously timeless and fresh. The chromatic orchestration reveals sophisticated understanding of color relationships, with the warm amber and russet tones of the deer creating visual dialogue with the cool blue-greens of surrounding foliage, while the crane's pristine white plumage provides essential visual rest amid the chromatic abundance. The inclusion of four distinct creatures, each positioned on separate panels yet compositionally integrated through continuous botanical elements, may evoke traditional symbolism of the four seasons or cardinal directions while celebrating biodiversity and ecological interconnection. Typography maintains appropriate hierarchy, with gold-stamped characters conveying premium positioning without competing with illustrative content. The material choice of natural-fiber paper with visible inclusions reinforces organic and artisanal brand values through tactile means. One might consider how this packaging design transforms the quotidian act of tea selection into an engagement with visual culture, inviting prolonged contemplation of the intricate illustrative details that reveal themselves upon sustained observation.

- Production Technology
- Tea leaf residue is used to make the packaging material. The production process must integrate filtered tea residue and handmade paper. Environmentally-friendly ink is then printed on the handmade long fiber paper, adhering to the spirit of environment protection.
- Design Challenge
- In response to the spirit of environmental protection, the packaging use tea leaf residue that has to be produced into paper. The production process must overcome the combination of filtered tea leaf residues and handmade paper, and also environmentally-friendly ink printing on handmade long-fiber paper. It requires a substantial amount of time and paper mill research and development, as well as continuous experimentation on printing techniques, because it is fairly different from the general material technology and production. By doing so, Green Light Tea Garden promotes the environmental protection spirit.
