About Eco Smart City Sales Centre
Eco Smart City is a sales centre interior located in Hunan, China, covering 2500 square meters. The layout is inspired by the patterns of ancient grand mansions and imitates the three-courtyard system to divide the views and functions of the space. The theme of Peach Blossom Spring guides the design, while landscape rockeries with a guest-greeting pine express the idea of welcome. Energy saving LED lamps light the interior and can be controlled by area. The furniture is made of solid wood with natural marble tabletops and is free of formaldehyde.
Wen Juan Duan's Eco Smart City Sales Centre presents an extraordinary synthesis of contemporary spatial design and contemplative aesthetic traditions, creating an immersive threshold experience that transforms commercial function into transcendent encounter. The installation demonstrates remarkable technical ambition in its deployment of fiber-optic technology as sculptural medium, with thousands of individual luminous strands creating the phenomenological impression of crystallized rainfall suspended in perpetual descent against the deep aqueous backdrop. This chromatic choice—a saturated teal-blue reminiscent of twilight atmospheres or deep water—establishes immediate psychological distance from quotidian experience, inviting visitors into a liminal realm where the boundaries between interior and exterior, natural and artificial, material and immaterial become productively ambiguous. The composition achieves powerful formal coherence through strict axial symmetry, with the central light installation functioning as both focal point and cosmic axis mundi connecting earthly and celestial realms. The inclusion of sculptural mountain forms within the reflecting pool demonstrates sophisticated iconographic awareness, referencing centuries-old traditions of miniature landscape representation while translating these conventions into contemporary wire-mesh materiality that maintains visual transparency and dialogue with the vertical elements above. The circular moon-gate portal visible at the composition's center provides both literal passage and symbolic threshold, its perfect geometry offering meditative focus within the dynamic visual field. The careful placement of a trained bonsai specimen introduces organic asymmetry and temporal depth, suggesting cultivation, patience, and the human relationship with natural processes—themes resonant with the ecological aspirations the space embodies. The overall achievement lies in creating commercial architecture that operates simultaneously as contemplative environment and spectacular experience, inviting visitors to consider how aspirational living might integrate technological innovation with enduring wisdom about harmonious dwelling.

- The designer expresses the space theme of "welcome" with the Guest-Greeting Pine landscape rockeries. With the view borrowing technique of ancient gardens, the front and back spaces complement each other to create a layered effect of both separation and connection.

- Production Technology
- The entire space is illuminated with energy saving LED lamps, which emit little heat with good heat dissipation performance. They not only adjust the illuminance index according to the environment, but also control the light sources by areas, to save energy. The furniture is made of solid wood with natural marble tabletop, free of formaldehyde, thus environmental friendly for good health.

- Eco Smart City is an international riverside landmark of Changde with the largest central parks. When the building sales center has fulfilled its profiting function, designers need to consider that it will serve as a reception center in the largest central parks of the city to accommodate public visits.
- Project Duration
- The project was located in Hu Nan, China. It was finished in August 2018.
- Operation Flow
- The central hall behind the LED screen focuses on the theme of courtesy. It comprises the reception lobby and the sand table area. The sand table is illuminated with self luminous thermostat lamps. The ceiling lamps running through the entire central hall follows the pattern of the Chuanzi River of Changde in design. The peach blossom shaped ceiling lamps extend forward like a river, showing the way for customers in supreme courtesy. Light perception color temperature and hard fitting perfectly match to present a world of its own like the Peach Blossom Spring.
- Research
- The decorative peach trees made from scrap irons lead the customers to the city memory hall on the side of the main hall. The designer personally toured Changde to collect paintings, calligraphies and works of art of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and sealed them with the special wire super long art glass technology.
