About Double Moon Wall Lamp
Double Moon is a wall lamp inspired by a rare astronomical event in which the Earth gains a second, temporary satellite. The lamp has a metal base holding two LED boards, one above and one below, covered by matte diffusers that produce soft light. Light is reflected by glass spheres painted with a mirrored tinted gradient, which creates patterns on the wall and smooth highlights on the glass. The lamp measures 424 mm in height and 120 mm in width. Mounting is possible in a vertical or horizontal position. Three finishes are offered: dark nickel, brass and black.
Within the evolving discourse of contemporary lighting design, Alexey Danilin's Double Moon Wall Lamp emerges as a meditation on the poetic potential of functional objects, synthesizing geometric precision with celestial metaphor in a manner that recalls both the material honesty championed by mid-century modernists and the atmospheric sensitivity characteristic of contemporary Nordic design traditions. The fixture demonstrates remarkable compositional sophistication through its vertical arrangement of twin smoke-glass spheres, each containing elegantly curved reflective elements that appear to embrace the warm light sources like metallic petals cradling illumination. This internal architecture transforms what might have been simple transparent orbs into complex optical instruments, creating layered visual depth as viewers perceive simultaneously the glass surface, the interior reflectors, and the wall beyond. The designer exhibits particular sensitivity to the phenomenological experience of light, positioning the luminous discs at the junction points between spheres and mounting bracket to produce both upward and downward illumination that softly washes the surrounding wall while maintaining the integrity of the fixture as a discrete sculptural object. The material palette—limited to smoke-tinted glass, polished gunmetal, and warm white light—demonstrates confident restraint, allowing form and luminosity to carry expressive weight without chromatic distraction. One might observe how the title evokes astronomical phenomena, suggesting twin moons suspended in nocturnal space, a reading reinforced by the ethereal quality of light diffusing through translucent glass against the shadowed wall. The work invites contemplation of the threshold between functional necessity and aesthetic aspiration: how does an object designed to illuminate a space simultaneously become a source of visual contemplation in its own right?

- Unique Properties
- The collection was inspired by a rare astronomical phenomenon - the "Double Moon." Various technologies have been used to create a lamp with a mysterious and bewitching effect. For example, lights were hidden in the base on both sides and covered with matte diffusers to create soft lighting. Glass spheres are painted with a mirrored tinted gradient that reflects light and creates incredible patterns on the walls, and smooth highlights appear on the glass itself.
- Dimensions & Packaging

- Production Technology
- The collection consists of a metal base, inside which there are two LED boards, above and below. They are covered with a matte diffuser, which creates a soft, comfortable light. The light re-reflects from the mirror gradient on the glass spheres and creates spectacular lighting on the wall. The luminous flux of lamps is large enough for a wall lamp, and therefore it will suit a wide variety of functions in the interior. Models are made in three colors: dark nickel, brass, black.
- Design Challenge
- The most important task was to convey the mysterious cosmic image of the double moon so that the models looked very laconic and spectacular. For this, many hand-drawn sketches were created to find a successful and simple at first glance design. This could only be achieved through LED technology and gradient staining of the glass.
- Project Duration
- The project started in January 2024 in Moscow and finished in January 2025 in Moscow.
- Operation Flow
- Models can be installed vertically and horizontally. This creates different applications in space. The collection has a fairly versatile design and laconic shape. This allows you to use models in different interior styles. Due to the significant light flux, the lamps can be used next to the bed, desk and as additional lighting.
- Research
- During the study, the properties of light were studied in order for light to create beautiful glare on the wall. For this, different glasses were used, and in the selection process, the mirror gradient turned out to be the best. Various structures were also designed, such as metal foundations and glass fasteners. All this was done to create a subtle neat silhouette of the lamp.
- Inspiration
- "Double Moon" is a gravitational capture phenomenon where, in addition to a single permanent natural satellite, the Moon, the Earth has a second, temporary satellite. This rare phenomenon occurred in 2024. And it became a source of inspiration for the creation of this collection of lamps. Celestial bodies have always been a source of light for people day and night. And they have always inspired people to create artificial light sources.
