About Doji Tower Commercial and Office

Doji Tower is the interior design of a sixteen-storey mixed-use building in Hanoi, Vietnam. The interior covers 18,204 square metres and includes retail floors, corporate offices, leased offices and a restaurant on the topmost level. The design language fuses classical and contemporary elements, resulting in an art deco character. Marble, gold leaf, coffered ceilings, Italian mosaic and European crystals are combined with open spaces, large rounded windows and curved walls. The intent is a timeless interior that reflects the beauty of gold and gems.

This distinguished interior environment, realized through Mercurio Design Lab S.r.l.'s design vision for Doji Tower Commercial and Office, represents a sophisticated meditation on the relationship between architectural gesture and retail experience within contemporary commercial design practice. The space demonstrates how curvilinear formal language, drawn perhaps from organic natural forms and the flowing lines of precious metalwork traditions, can transform a functional retail environment into an immersive spatial journey that honors both merchandise and visitor alike. Technical achievement manifests through the seamless integration of multiple material systems, where embossed panels bearing stylized rose motifs engage in dialogue with precision glass fabrication, polished metal trim, and carefully orchestrated lighting layers that together create an atmosphere of warmth and aspiration. The compositional strategy employs the display islands as spatial anchors that define circulation paths while maintaining visual permeability throughout the generous floor plate, a approach that invites exploration while providing clear orientation. Particularly noteworthy is the ceiling treatment, which elevates what might serve merely as functional overhead plane into an active compositional participant, its flowing illuminated channels and stepped volumes creating vertical spatial interest that rewards upward contemplation. The chromatic program demonstrates refined sensitivity to the emotional dimensions of retail experience, selecting warm tones associated with comfort, luxury, and trust while introducing sufficient tonal variation through the geometric floor pattern to maintain visual engagement. Wall treatments featuring illuminated display niches with product imagery and carefully arranged floral elements extend the visual narrative to the spatial perimeter, creating a sense of completeness and considered attention throughout. The viewer might consider how such environments shape our relationship with objects of value, transforming commercial transaction into aesthetic experience.

Production Technology
Marbles, golden decors, carpets, Italian mosaic, and European crystals were incorporated in the overall design of the interiors.

Gold leaf, decorative ceiling medallions, detailing in the cornice and baseboard, wall panels, coffered ceilings, and gold finishes emphasised the classical characteristics.

The contemporary feel is manifested in the open spaces with large and rounded windows for natural light to flow in, fluid and curvaceous walls, modern furniture, ornaments, and furnishings.
Design Challenge
When Mercurio Design Lab was first appointed, the client wanted a classical design to go along with the pre-existing classical imprint of the building. Mercurio Design Lab, an avant-garde studio, took the challenge and developed a new style language which is a fusion between the classical and contemporary. The blend resulted to an art deco sensibility and is made evident in the various sections and functionalities of the building bestowing a peculiar design impression.
Project Duration
The Doji Tower interior project in Hanoi, Vietnam was completed in 2019.
Operation Flow
The first five floors of the tower is a retail space featuring various sections for showing wedding-related themes and giftware such as watches and other luxury jewellery. The offices feature high-end and top quality furniture interiors. On the 16th floor, the topmost level, there is a high-end restaurant.
