About Cyp Corporate Identity
Cyp approached the studio seeking a novel graphic identity alternative that would refresh their brand's appearance, establishing a more personalized yet distinctive identity that reflected their new presence and approach in their industry. The end design represents the company's primary service and product offerings while conveying a sense of security and reliability. The concept is influenced by the principles of Yin-Yang, which represent the interplay of opposing forces, and captures the duality of Cyp's main product lines, which simultaneously balance and complement each other.
Pablo Prada Granada's Cyp Corporate Identity represents a distinguished achievement within the specialized domain of construction and infrastructure industry visual communication, where the designer has crafted a comprehensive identity system that demonstrates both formal sophistication and strategic sector-appropriate communication. The work positions itself within the tradition of rationalist graphic design that emerged from European modernist movements, particularly the Swiss Style's emphasis on geometric clarity, systematic thinking, and the intelligent deployment of grid-based compositional structures, yet translates these historical precedents through contemporary material sensibilities and digital precision tools that allow for extraordinary refinement in stroke weight modulation and geometric construction. The primary logotype achieves notable distinction through its treatment of the ampersand connector, which functions simultaneously as typographic junction and visual focal point, the character rendered in a saturated cerulean blue that introduces chromatic vitality while maintaining professional restraint, this single accent color operating within an otherwise achromatic palette of charcoal and white, creating memorable differentiation without sacrificing the gravitas essential to construction sector communication. The complementary icon demonstrates exceptional symbolic economy, employing isometric geometric abstraction to evoke both pavement striping patterns and dimensional architectural forms, the alternating bands of grey and blue creating optical rhythm while suggesting the linear precision fundamental to construction and paving operations. The compositional achievement merits particular attention, as the designer has orchestrated multiple elements across the picture plane with sophisticated sensitivity to positive and negative space relationships, allowing generous white intervals to function as active compositional breathing room rather than passive void, this restraint conveying the confidence and professional maturity that construction clients seek when selecting infrastructure partners. The material presentation itself speaks to technical excellence, captured through careful documentation that reveals the tactile qualities of premium uncoated stock, the crisp ink holdout characteristic of lithographic printing, and the dimensional presence created through natural raking illumination that casts soft atmospheric shadows across the paper surface, these shadows introducing subtle tonal gradation that enhances material perception without compromising graphic clarity. The work invites consideration of how visual identity systems function as compressed symbolic representations of organizational capability, where choices in typography, geometry, color, and material combine to communicate competence, precision, reliability, and scale before a single word of descriptive text is read, the formal decisions operating beneath conscious awareness yet powerfully shaping audience perception and organizational positioning within competitive markets.

- Design Challenge
- Finding a balance between the two main components of the visual identity of the logo, while trying to keep it modern, clean, and not cumbersome.
- Project Duration
- Project started in Bogota, on April of 2024, and was published officially in June 2024
- Operation Flow
- Brand was designed to be used in various formats. It has multiple versions that make ir flexible enough to be used various mediums and applications to be properly showcased.
- Research
- A discovery brief questionnaire was delivered to the client, which allowed us to understand the company's values and characteristics, as well as what they wanted to convey. Once this information was discussed and analyzed between parties, we delivered various design alternatives. These designs were filtered and modified until reaching a final version that the client felt correctly represented what they were looking to achieve for their brand.
- Inspiration
- Our intent was to represent graphically the company's main service and product offerings, while conveying security and reliability. The name of the company reflects the duality of its main product lines, which at the same time balance and complement each other. We drove inspiration in balanced duality; in the co-existing of these two elements in making the company whole. We found inspiration in duality and balance, complementary forces, interdependence, and transformation; relating to Yin-Yang.
