About C'Est La Vie Boutique Brand Identity

C'est La Vie Boutique is a brand identity created for a fashion store in Nanjing, China. The store gathers Chinese and Western fashion brands across many categories and styles, so the logo uses a mix-up lettering style to express that mixed range. The Nanjing sycamore tree, an iconic part of the city landscape, serves as the main supporting graphic. The same element was also shaped into a rotating sculpture installation, whose inverted mirror image reflects the changing city. The visual system moves from flat to spatial and from static to dynamic forms.

Design Challenge
The core of the design challenge is how to combine Nanjing's traditional culture with modern fashion elements to create a brand image that is both regionally distinctive and fashionable. This requires designers to delve into Nanjing's history, culture, art, and contemporary lifestyle, draw inspiration from them, and incorporate these elements into the brand design innovatively. Firstly, designers need to consider how to convey Nanjing's unique charm through visual elements. Secondly, brand storytelling is also an essential part of the design. Finally, sustainable development is an aspect of modern brand design that cannot be ignored. In summary, the Nanjing Sycamore Tree has become an iconic city landscape due to its historical origins. Continuing the concept of local design, this typical element is transformed into different forms of presentation, such as dynamic sculpture installations and visual elements of the brand to respond to these design challenges.
Project Duration
The duration of the project is from June to September 2022, and the project location is in Nanjing.
Operation Flow
The store opened in September 2022. Located in Nanjing, China.
Research
C'est la vie Boutique, originating from Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, is a local boutique that blends tradition and modernity, oriental aesthetics, and international fashion. The designers dig deep into Nanjing's rich history and culture, combining its unique regional characteristics with modern fashion elements, and are committed to creating a unique fashion brand that provides a distinctive shopping experience for consumers who pursue individuality and taste.
Inspiration
Based on the concept of local design, the typical element of the Nanjing Sycamore Tree(Firmiana Simplex)was adopted as the key point, and firstly designed the dynamic sculpture art installation "Sycamore Forest," which rotates in a counterclockwise direction, and the inverted mirror of the tree maps the change of Nanjing city. On this basis, a three-dimensional image was used as the graphic element of the brand design, and the logo was designed in a mix-up style to emphasize the brand's characteristics. The design is from planar to spatial, static to dynamic, reflecting the localized multi-dimensional design thinking.
