About Celestone Exhibition Center
The exhibition hall aims to create an atmosphere different from a traditional gallery environment. This project intends to reinterpret the relationship between art and the natural world. Functioning as both an exhibition and social space, the space extends its exhibitions into an integrated cafe area. Visitors can interact with digital artworks while drinking or gathering with friends. Combining natural aesthetics with screens, the project offers an environment where art and nature intersects.
Güneş Duman Gürbüz's Celestone Exhibition Center exemplifies contemporary spatial design's capacity to transform utilitarian program into immersive experiential environments that engage visitors through carefully orchestrated material, chromatic, and luminous relationships. This exhibition space demonstrates remarkable technical sophistication in integrating diverse architectural elements including a sculptural faceted ceiling installation in charcoal tones edged with magenta illumination, a spectacular atmospheric ceiling treatment depicting swirling cosmic phenomena in blues, lavenders, pinks, and peaches, translucent gridded partitions that mediate spatial zones while maintaining visual continuity, and a refined ground plane composition of white stone platforms with magenta upholstered accents arranged in geometric configurations that serve both seating and sculptural functions. The designer achieves compositional balance through bilateral symmetry anchored by the dramatic geometric installation at left while introducing dynamic asymmetry through the graduated atmospheric treatment extending rightward and the strategic placement of a pink-blossomed tree specimen that provides essential organic relief within the predominantly rectilinear geometry. The chromatic strategy demonstrates particular accomplishment in restricting the palette to cool blues and warm magentas with neutral grays and whites, allowing these limited hues to achieve maximum impact through varied application across diverse materials and illumination conditions, the magenta thread woven through ceiling edges, upholstery accents, vertical lighting elements, and organic blossoms creates chromatic unity while the blue-to-pink gradation overhead establishes atmospheric depth and celestial association. Technical facility is evident in the lighting integration that combines concealed linear sources edging geometric forms, ambient diffused illumination seemingly emanating from the painted or projected ceiling surface itself, and subtle accent lighting that articulates translucency and highlights focal elements, this layered approach creates theatrical luminosity suggesting twilight conditions where artificial illumination dominates and chromatic saturation intensifies. The material palette juxtaposes hard and soft, matte and reflective, geometric and organic with considerable sensitivity, the rough faceted quality of the sculptural ceiling elements contrasts with the polished stone platforms and reflective floor surface while plush velvet upholstery introduces tactile warmth and the flowering tree provides delicate naturalistic counterpoint. Spatially the design establishes multiple experiential registers simultaneously offering intimate human-scaled seating zones in the foreground while creating monumental atmospheric volume overhead, the translucent partition system mediates between these scales while maintaining visual porosity that allows the spectacular ceiling treatment to permeate the entire environment. The work seems to explore threshold conditions between architecture and installation art, functional program and aesthetic spectacle, geometric abstraction and naturalistic representation, earthbound materiality and celestial imagination, inviting consideration of how contemporary spatial design can transcend purely utilitarian concerns to create environments that nourish visual curiosity, inspire contemplative engagement, and demonstrate that commercial and exhibition spaces can achieve genuine aesthetic ambition when material refinement, chromatic sophistication, and lighting mastery converge in service of holistic spatial experience. What emotional or imaginative territories does this synthesis of geometric rigor and atmospheric wonder invite you to inhabit, and how does the careful balance between intimate human scale and cosmic expansiveness shape your experience of moving through and dwelling within such deliberately orchestrated environments?

- Unique Properties
- Inspired by various rock and stone forms found in nature, wall textures and seating areas were created. The idea that gives the pendant lamps their shape is the crystalline structures found in mines. The pink tree used in the space was used as a reflection of all colors, considering its compatibility with the concept.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- The area consists of a cafe and an exhibition hall. The exhibition hall and cafe are approximately 600 m2 in total and the ceiling height is 8 metres. The cafe and the exhibition hall are separated from each other by ribbed frosted glass partitions. The lighting system used in the exhibition hall is also applied in the cafe.

- Production Technology
- The seating elements in the project are made of concrete material and the panels used on the wall are made of wood material with stone surface. Ceiling pendant lights are also made of wooden material and the material on the floor is black microcement. The screens consist of two parts, one on the ceiling and one on the wall. Flexible screen material type is used.
- Design Challenge
- Bringing stones and crystals to a common ground with other elements in a hall for a digital art exhibition was a challenging enough process. The space took its final form with touches of both colour and texture
- Project Duration
- The project is designed from April 2024 to October 2024 in İstanbul.
- Operation Flow
- It is an exhibition space designed mainly for the exhibition of digital arts. The exhibition screen also continues in the cafe area. In this way, people can enjoy the exhibition while having a drink or sitting with their friends. The concrete seating elements in the exhibition area allow a large number of people to watch the performances together.
- Research
- This design is based on the concept of natural life. In this project, there is observation and inspiration from nature. It is a project that emerged as a result of a research that is possible by travelling, seeing and feeling. At the same time, technologically popular ai adds a different vitality to the spaces. It has been prepared on a ground where digital art technology is also used.
- Inspiration
- The idea came from the belief that as the world goes digital, nature should be included in this transformation. At this point, some elements of nature were used to make digital exhibition spaces feel more natural.
