Uiga Fa'apitoa
With a modern style, the design team chose blue as the main tone of the space, expecting to create a low-key and calm atmosphere. The design team combines traditional totems and metal parts with various design techniques to realize the rich layers of different materials in the same tone. In addition to reorganizing the vertical route of the space and installing an elevator, the public area is also designed with a transparent route and multifunctional activity area. The private areas have excellent lighting in the bedrooms, allowing sufficient daylight and efficient use of space.
Fua & Fa'apipi'i
The design team created a patio in the center of the building and planned it above the staircase. The steel staircase not only reflects the sunlight from the patio but also eliminates the dark and cold feeling of the space and makes the house look more transparent. The circular line extends to the dining table on the first floor, allowing daylight from the patio to shine from the center to each corner and giving the whole family an area for dining and communication, which is the theme of the project.
Fa'ailoga
Patio, elevator, Single-family house, Steel staircase, Barrier-free space, Bolon carpet, Prussian blue.
Tekonolosi Gaosiga
Bolon carpet, tile, plywood, wood, concrete, screen, metal, glass tile.
Lu'itau o le Mamanu
When the design team re-planned the vertical route, in addition to avoiding beams and floor slabs, they also had to confirm whether the location, depth, and size of the elevator shaft met the requirements of equipment and evaluate the structural strength of the building with structural technicians before finalizing the plan.
Su'esu'ega
The design team not only used the corners as a storage room but also reshaped the layout and reduced the irregularity of the building's contours to maximize the use of space. Created more spacious and ventilated independent bathrooms. The multi-purpose room on the second floor is separated by four sliding doors, which can be expanded as a living room or study room. The door can be fully closed and locked from the inside to become a temporary room and can be used as a projection screen by lowering the white roller shutter.
Fa'aosofia
The retired couple wants to install an elevator in their four-story house, which is more than 25 years old, to make their home barrier-free. The design team demolished the original layout and reconfigured the vertical route, which not only eliminates the disadvantage of the long and narrow corridor that is closed and dark but also reorganizes the corners to make full use of the space. It is worth mentioning that to solve the problem of poor lighting, the design team has created a patio in the center of the roof to introduce the sunlight to the staircase.
Umi o le Poloketi
The project started and finished in Taichung City.
Fa'agasologa o Galuega
After the creation of the patio, the clients have repeatedly commented that they do not need to turn on the lights when it is sunny and that they can sense the weather changes better. The original polished stone flooring was replaced by Bolon carpet so that the clients can walk around barefoot in winter without getting cold. Increased the size of the small bathroom to three to four times after the renovation. After re-planning, each bedroom can accommodate a double bed and a dressing room.
