Design Details

Unique Properties
Aisling Sans offers a contemporary reinterpretation of classic typographic principles. Its generously proportioned letterforms, distinctive curves, and broad stance create a refined balance between modern aesthetics and historical proportions. The large open counters are designed to enhance legibility, making Aisling versatile across both print and digital environments. Equipped with advanced OpenType features, comprehensive support for Latin Extended languages, and a flexible range of ten weights alongside a Variable font version, Aisling Sans is designed to meet the demands of diverse typographic applications.
Inspiration
Aisling Sans was inspired by the desire to create a contemporary typeface that seamlessly blends timeless modernity with unique character. Drawing inspiration from the elegance of classic sans-serif designs, Aisling embodies a perfect fusion of tradition and innovation. The type family features carefully balanced proportions, designed to achieve visual harmony and offer a sense of effortless readability. Its distinctive curves and forms reflect individuality while maintaining a sense of sophistication, making it an ideal choice for branding and communication.
Research
The research began in 2023, with classical proportions analyzed from historical references. Once this data and ratios were documented we began to study the form and ductus we required from each through weight, creating contemporary forms within the new ratio proportion.
Challenge
The main challenge was to develop something contemporary using historical proportions.
Realization and Technology
The font was digitally created and supported by over 200 Latin languages. The specimen box and 5 booklets were digitally printed in a limited print run, to celebrate the launch, demonstrating the robustness of the family.
Operation and Interaction
The presentation box was included with the first ten orders of the complete family.
Project Duration and Location
The research was started in late 2023, with the production and launch world wide in July 2024.
Specifications
The specimen box was digitally printed CMYK 80 x 180 x 255 mm. The booklets were printed CMYK and prefect bound 170 x 240 mm.
