Book Text: House of the Mystic Art er einkaheimili í Taípei á Taívan sem þjónar einnig sem vinnustaður, þar sem eigandinn hýsir beina útsendingu spjallþáttar heima. Íbúðin er þriggja áratuga gömul og nær yfir 152 fermetra. Loftið stendur í 2,68 metra hæð, en hámarkshæðin undir bitunum er 2,13 metrar, sem skapaði tilfinningu fyrir þrengslum. Grunnteikningin var endurskipulögð til að bæta flæði og náttúrulega birtu. Loftin voru sett í mismunandi hæðir til að fjölbreyta sjónrænni upplifun. Efniviðurinn felur í sér steinefnamálningu, stein, við, ryðfrítt stál, flísar, gler og plöntur.

The challenges with designing this old apartment of three decades comes in the form of height and poor interior management. The maximum height under the beam is 2.13 m which in turn presents an overall vibe of constrain. The modification has given it a new look, giving more space for some sun and additional greenery inside.

- Checking structural problems in the old apartment with the structural technician and resolved them. Study the direction of natural light and the extent of the building which can be renovated. In-depth understanding of the homeowner's life and all the needs that need to be done in the space, propose the floor plan solution.

- The project started in July 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan and finished in April 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan.

- First inspected the structure of the old apartment and fixed some aging issues. Re-planning the floor plan, to solved the problems of the moving line and natural lighting. Then make the different heights in the ceiling design to get the great use of the space for different visual experience. The last part is the selection and matching of materials and furniture.
