ʻEnehana Hana: ABS plastic is used to hold the internals and fabric together with clips that make the assembly easy and short.
This shell will be manufactured with injection molding techniques.
The ring that wraps around the speaker is made of stamped sheet metal.
The upper part is made of milled aluminium and then finished off with a textured powder coat.
Pilikia Hoʻolālā: To make the product in your own style as a junior designer means finding yourself and determining what your values are. It isn't' just the shape that counts. It's the emotion, the statement, the choice of material that makes a style unique and bonding to a designer.
Noiʻi: The research of this speaker was very different than the ones of my other products as this had to be fully in line with my personal style.
The startup consisted of finding out what fits my identity and associates with my interests. First off by determining what materials fit my style and vision, then by experimenting with shapes that reflect light in a certain way and surfaces that express a certain mood.
Hoʻoulu Manaʻo: The speaker is designed in my personal style which consists of blending together natural and man made materials. This in combination with rounded corners and soft edges to create an interesting emotion.
Light is also a big factor that was taken in account, this to create a soft/fading feeling that compliments the fabric.
