- Star Fall is the entrance lobby of a residential community, designed to create an immersive arrival experience through spatial narrative. Centered on a circular void, the space organizes arrival, reception, and communal functions into a clear and fluid sequence.
Rather than serving as a conventional lobby, the design uses artistic spatial language and scenographic strategies to transform arrival into an emotional experience, fostering a sense of belonging and strengthening the connection between residents and the community. - Nā Ana a me ka Hoʻopili
- Star Fall integrates stone, wood veneer, metal, and glass to create a layered and sensorial spatial atmosphere. Low VOC coatings, energy efficient LED lighting, and renewable finishes reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
Main materials include high gloss resin panels sized 1220 by 2440 mm and 3000 by 3 mm, which are waterproof, moisture resistant, and UV stable. Frosted glass bricks sized 50 by 100 by 200 mm provide soft light diffusion and anti glare performance. Jade pattern sintered stone panels sized 1600 by 3200 by 8 mm are semi translucent, durable, and visually expressive. - Nā Lepili

- Star Fall adopts a layout strategy combining axial organization with a central core, creating a clear and ceremonial circulation. Layered open and semi private spaces enable smooth transitions between movement and interaction.
Material selection emphasizes light, shadow, and texture, integrating stone, wood veneer, metal, and glass to create a refined spatial experience. A multi level lighting system combines a central chandelier with indirect and accent lighting to produce soft and dynamic light variations. - Pilikia Hoʻolālā
- The main challenge was balancing functional clarity with strong artistic expression within a limited space. The design needed to ensure both efficient use and a memorable spatial experience.
The central void and large custom chandelier presented technical challenges in structural load, installation precision, and lighting performance. In addition, material constraints in production and construction required continuous optimization between schedule, cost, and quality.
Through multidisciplinary collaboration and iterative refinement, the project achieved a balance between design expression, user experience, and technical feasibility. - Noiʻi
- Type of Research Spatial experience and user behavior research.
Research Objective To explore how entrance spaces can enhance residents sense of belonging and spatial identity.
Methodology Through case studies, circulation analysis, and experiential simulation, the project examined behavioral patterns and spatial engagement.
Results The findings show that a spatial structure with a clearly defined central core and intuitive circulation significantly enhances spatial recognition and emotional experience.
Insights and Impacts The project demonstrates that entrance lobbies are not only transitional spaces, but also important social interfaces that connect individuals with collective living. - Hoʻoulu Manaʻo
- Spatial Order
Based on the concept of a circle within a square, a central circular core organizes the space into a clear spatial order. The circle represents connection and belonging, creating a fluid and balanced experience.
Artistic Inspiration Starlight
Inspired by starlight, a custom chandelier composed of luminous points forms a ceremonial focal point. It evokes flowing light and convergence, shaping atmosphere while symbolizing human connection and warmth within the community. - Ka Lōʻihi o ka Papahana
- This project was launched in Shanghai, China in April 2025 and concluded in Jiangsu Province, China in October 2025.
- Kaʻina Hana
- Upon entry, visitors arrive at a central circular space where a cascading chandelier forms a strong visual focal point. From this core, the space expands outward in a clear and intuitive sequence.
As people move through the environment, they experience different zones for arrival, pause, interaction, and rest. The combination of open and semi private areas supports natural communication and enhances spatial engagement. - Nā Palapala Kuleana
