Democracy Desk by Sang Il Jeon Wins the A' Design Award in Office Furniture Design

COMO, Italy, April 23, 2021 /DesignNewswire/ A' Design Award & Competition has confirmed the A' Design Award in the Office Furniture Design category for Democracy Desk by Sang Il Jeon, designed for Heritage of Sang Il. The recognition forms part of the 2020 - 2021 A' Design Award & Competition and was reached through blind peer review by an international grand jury panel of established academics, design professionals and press members, who scored anonymized entries against predetermined criteria.
The A' Design Award Explained

Regarding Democracy Desk
Democracy is a desk designed for shared work spaces. The desk removes visible storage tools and replaces them with a transparent top plate, two A4-shaped holes and a semi-transparent drawer. The clear surface keeps the work area open and shows how each user arranges personal objects. The frame is made of aluminium pipes with a matte powder coating. The body, wheels, plate and drawer are cut by CNC machine from acrylic, wood and ABS. The desk measures 1230 by 640 by 760 millimetres. When several desks are grouped, teamwork is supported while individual character stays visible.

- democracy desk a.k.a a desk which disappears any storage tool. a desk which disappears any storage tools. many storage tools might not be the right way definitely. even without a storage tool, the transparent plate of the desk where storage tools are disappeared by A4-shaped 2 holes and a drawer makes the user workspace more spacious and comfortable. develope the concept of this desk open relationship. teamwork, where individual personalities are alive, creates synergy.

- individuals with independent and creative minds gain synergy through teamwork. and a team needs individual creativity and independence. when these desks gather together to form a team, you can see the various personalities and habits of members at a glance. the members can recognize that their team is a union of various personalities and characters.

- Realization and Technology
- FAB operation. CNC machine for acrylic, wood, abs, and made the shape of the body, wheels, plate, and drawer of the desk. And aluminum pipes for the frame of the desk were matte-powder coated.
- Operation and Interaction
- this desk is parted into 3 parts. the top transparent plate of the desk, semi-transparent drawer, and desk frame. even without a storage tool on the desk, we can create a desk in which the work area is more mainly with no difficulty in storing and using. according to the frequency of operation and motion of hands on the desk, the desk can be classified into the workspace, storage space, and the placing space. on this standard of area, we can freely arrange objects through A4-shaped TWO HOLES and A DRAWER, with seeing through the top transparent plate of the desk, by each user own work style. this transparent desk reveals various personalities, like democracy.
