About Shuttles of Light Residence

Shuttles of Light is a residential interior design for a detached house in Taiwan. The seven-story home covers 413.7 square meters of indoor space and is planned for a family of three generations. Floating steel stairs and a mezzanine with a retractable floor connect the levels and bring daylight to each floor. The footprint of partitions and stairs is reduced to allow more free space. The living room and the kitchen exchange their usual positions to improve indoor movement. Walls and ceilings are coated with lotos paint for a mineral-like texture.

Unique Properties
The top floor provides a comfortable and independent living space for the couple, with an abundance of natural light. The space also encourages connection, allowing the couple to stay in touch with each other and the world around them. The mezzanine level, which features a retractable floor and floating steel stairs, serves as a beautiful transition between the upper and lower levels. It introduces even more light and creates a sense of continuity throughout the home.

Upstairs, the sleeping area has soft and tranquil lighting, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The hallway, with a view of the sky, provides a bright space for changing clothes and getting ready for the day. On the lower level, there is a peaceful living area and a study, both flooded with ample light thanks to the tall windows. Finally, the mezzanine level connects and provides comfort, making it the perfect spot for relaxing and unwinding after a long day.
