About Green Generations Residential Space

Green Generations is a residential interior design for a house of 595 square meters in Changhua County, Taiwan. The design follows eco-friendly and sustainable green building ideas, adapted to a subtropical climate. Vertically moving equipment is placed at the center of the house, and the layout is reorganized around it to connect the spaces and to serve elderly residents. Rooms for the elderly are set close to this equipment, and indoor steps and bathroom thresholds are lowered. Raised ceilings, added windows and extended eaves support ventilation, daylight and shade.

Production Technology
Raise the height of ceiling to facilitate ventilation, allowing the heat indoor going out from the windows. In addition, the eaves are extended to prevent excessive sunshine. To solve the problem of insufficient daylighting, add windows to introduce daylight and facilitate ventilation and temperature adjustment.
Design Challenge
Eco-friendly green building materials and recyclable materials such as iron and wood are used. Besides, apply crystallization treatment and water-repellent treatment to stone materials to increase the durability and stain resistance ability.
Research
In terms of ventilation and energy saving design, active and passive air-conditioning methods are adopted. In hot Summer, the extended eaves can provide a sunshade for interior spaces, and the residents can actively adjust the temperature of a single room with air-conditioning equipment. In cool and pleasant Spring, Fall and Winter, the passive temperature adjustment method is adopted. The indoor and outdoor air circulation helps adjust the room temperature, improve air quality and save energy.
