- This renovation of a 50-year-old residence in Kowloon Tsai balances storage functionality with refined aesthetics. By layering cabinetry with materials of varying depths and integrating lighting, the design creates visual richness while meeting practical needs. Natural materials evoke a freehand charm, transforming an aged building into a healthy, elegant home.
- Ìwọ̀n àti Àpò

- Ìmọ̀-ẹ̀rọ Ìṣelọ́pọ̀
- The project employs wood veneer, sintered stone, natural marble, and tailored lighting to enrich spatial effects. Cabinetry surfaces are divided into layers of varied depths to create dimension and avoid monotony. Lighting is integrated between cabinets, blending technical precision with natural materiality to enhance both aesthetics and function.
- Ìpèníjà Àpèsè
- The greatest challenge was reconciling the client's demand for large storage with the risk of dull cabinetry design. Internally, the project dealt with the historic limitations of a 50-year-old building. Externally, constraints included material production possibilities and construction standards. Through layered material use and integrated lighting, the design overcame these obstacles.
- Ìwádìí
- Applied design research focused on old building renovation and user needs. Objectives were to balance storage capacity with aesthetics. Methods included site analysis and user interviews. Data on material performance and space usage guided the process. Results showed that layered cabinetry and lighting integration improved both function and beauty, offering insights into sustainable urban housing renewal.
- Ìmísí
- The project is inspired by the imagery of forests, translating their depth, layering, and natural beauty into interior form. Guided by the client's needs and the building's renewal, the design team used wood, stone, and natural textures to create a tranquil environment that embodies the artistic conception of a forest while enhancing daily living.
- Àkókò Iṣẹ́ Àkànṣe
- The project started in February 2023 and finished inOctober 2023 in Hong Kong, China.
- Ìlànà Ìṣiṣẹ́
- The design enhances daily life by turning cabinetry into both storage and visual centerpiece. Layered materials and integrated lighting create a sense of depth, transforming a purely functional element into a design feature. Residents interact with a space that is practical yet uplifting, balancing storage, aesthetics, and comfort seamlessly.
