Whyte Woolf jẹ́ inúlé ẹgbẹ́ eré ìdárayá tí ó wà ní Chengdu, tí ó gbòòrò dé mítà onígunmẹ́rin 1800. Àpẹrẹ náà mú ìmísí rẹ̀ láti inú ìtàn Bíbélì nípa Ọgbà Ẹdẹni, ó sì ronú lórí ìyípadà láti iṣẹ́ àṣẹ ti ara fún ìwàláàyè sí eré ìdárayá tí a mọ̀ọ́mọ̀ ṣe tí ó ń ṣẹ̀dá ara. Ìtòlẹ́sẹẹsẹ náà yẹra fún àyè tí a fi ṣòfò, nígbà tí àwọn àwòrán tí ó ní ìtumọ̀ àti àwọn ohun-ìdásílẹ̀ oníṣẹ́-ọnà fún inúlé tí ó rọrùn náà ní àyíká ilé ìṣẹ̀ọnà.
