About Volca Speaker
Volca is a modern and special speaker inspired by the power of sound and designed. The bumps on the body and the grooves created on it evoke the power of sound. The device has a USB and Bluetooth port, which makes it used as a portable speaker. It can connect to other devices such as telephones via Bluetooth. Cable is used to charge this product and at night, its light can be used as table light. Creating a strong emotional connection with the user, in addition to sound quality, is a feature of this product.

- Design Challenge
- Designing an attractive and practical device based on technology was one of the important goals of this project. Designing and presenting based on a new and different form was one of the most challenging parts of this process.
- Project Duration
- It started in Esfarayen, Iran in May 2021 and finished in August 2021.
- Operation Flow
- This product enables the user to connect to other devices such as telephones via Bluetooth technology. The buttons are touch and turn on the device by touching the power button. The device has a USB port that makes it used as a portable speaker. At the bottom of the device, a light is installed and turns on with the touch of a light button, and at night it can be used as a table light. The light is designed in two different colors and each time the light button is touched, its color changes.
- Research
- Necessary information in the relevant field has been collected through the Internet and books. Some of the information is provided through observations and interviews with users to consider their interests in relation to this type of product in the design.
- Inspiration
- I was looking to show the power of sound. "Volca" is inspired by the power of sound. The protrusions on the body and the grooves created on it evoke the power of sound. Design Interview about Volca Speaker
I was looking to show the power of sound. "Volca" is inspired by the power of sound. The protrusions on the body and the grooves created on it evoke the power of sound. It seems that the sound is so powerful that it makes the shell move and causes grooves on the body. Like the occurrence of a volcano where the high power of the molten material causes the mountain to crack and the molten material to erupt.
The main focus has been on the form, presenting an attractive and unique form while maintaining a meaningful concept.
I am currently in negotiations with several sponsors for the production of this product, and I hope that this will happen as soon as possible in the future.
It took almost 4 months to design this product .
This design was not a custom project, and its conceptual idea and source of inspiration led to the creation of a new form.
It is not finalized yet, and I have some decisions that I will implement in the future.
The unique and attractive form of this product can distinguish it from other examples.
The name of this product is "Volca," derived from the word "volcano." The inspiration behind its name comes from the power of sound and volcanoes, and I have chosen a name that is related to its source of inspiration.
Certainly, consultations have been held with specialized individuals, technical experts, and electrical engineers to ensure that the created form is designed within a specific and logical framework and does not pose any issues for production.
Incorporating the concept of sound power into the product was somewhat challenging, but ultimately, this concept was manifested in the outer shell of the product in a way that gives the impression that the power of sound has caused the shell to crack and create grooves on its surface.
Participating in a competition can add credibility to a design and showcase its value. Therefore, I have decided to participate in a competition to demonstrate the quality and worth of the design.
I believe that design is not always about complex and sophisticated technologies. Sometimes, forms, concepts, and the combination of lines and surfaces can create beauty and showcase the design.
Indeed, these subtleties can showcase a good design while maintaining simplicity.
