About Valiant Residence Housing

Valiant is a four storey residential building located in the Altintas district of Antalya. The design takes inspiration from the layered forms of the nearby cliffs and their contour lines. Each floor slab is shifted forward or backward by 1.20 to 2.70 metres, which provides shading, privacy and a private green terrace for every unit. The structure uses a reinforced concrete frame, with high performance glass and glass fibre reinforced concrete panels on the facade. The plot covers 1,154 square metres, and floor areas range from 275 to 400 square metres.

Serhan Pacaci Mimarlik's Valiant Residence Housing engages contemporary residential architecture through a sophisticated formal language that balances geometric discipline with environmental sensitivity, positioning the work within broader design conversations around transparency, horizontal expression, and the integration of dwelling spaces with landscape. The composition demonstrates notable technical accomplishment in its layered spatial organization, where four residential levels appear to float above a sculptural ground-plane entry element, each tier defined by continuous cantilevered balcony plates that extend the interior living spaces outward into the surrounding atmosphere. The chromatic strategy reveals refined restraint and thoughtful material selection, employing cool neutral white render across the primary residential volumes to maximize light reflection and create visual serenity, this expansive pale field punctuated by charcoal horizontal banding that articulates floor separations with linear precision, while warm bronze metallic cladding enriches the entry pavilion introducing thermal contrast and signaling arrival with material luxury. The transparent glass balustrades dissolve visual weight while maintaining protective enclosure, creating a delicate permeability between private domestic realms and shared environmental context. Lighting design appears carefully orchestrated across diurnal cycles, with natural golden hour illumination captured in this moment bathing facades in warm directional light that generates soft shadows emphasizing tectonic separation, while integrated linear LED elements trace floor plate undersides preparing the composition to transform into a glowing presence as daylight fades. The architectural vocabulary suggests affinities with contemporary minimalist residential design emphasizing horizontal expression, material honesty, and the dematerialization of mass through cantilever and transparency, while the integration of mature plantings including distinctive pine specimens and sculptural agaves indicates thoughtful landscape coordination that softens geometric rigor with organic textures and forms. The composition invites consideration of how contemporary residential architecture negotiates fundamental dualities inherent in domestic space: the desire for both privacy and openness, enclosure and prospect, permanence and lightness, individual dwelling and collective community, achieving what appears to be a refined synthesis where geometric clarity and material precision create serene luxury without sacrificing human scale or environmental connection, the viewer invited to contemplate how architectural form shapes the quality of daily dwelling and the relationship between interior life and exterior landscape.

Production Technology
The building features a reinforced concrete frame system with high-performance glass and GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) panels used on the facade. The structure is articulated by shifting each floor slab forward or backward by 1.20 to 2.70 meters in all cardinal directions. This allows optimal sunlight penetration, thermal control, and enhanced visual aesthetics.
Design Challenge
The primary design challenge was to ensure that each unit had access to a private, functional green terrace while maintaining the building’s structural integrity and visual harmony. Coordinating the floor shifts to align with engineering requirements, daylight optimization, and environmental control demanded a multidisciplinary design approach.
Project Duration
The project will start in Antalya in July 2025 and is planned to be completed in January 2026.
Operation Flow
Each unit benefits from a private terrace, establishing a strong connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The open layout and terrace design allow for flexible use across different seasons, while the staggered placement of floors enhances both visual interaction and privacy. This typology encourages a seamless vertical and horizontal flow that elevates the user experience.
Research
The project was developed to create a new residential typology for emerging urban zones, focusing on spatial fluidity, human scale interaction, and climate responsiveness. Research centered on achieving a delicate balance between openness and privacy, maximizing daylight while preventing overheating, and integrating landscape elements into every living unit.
Inspiration
The location is a region that stands out with its cliffs. Inspiration was taken from the layered and fluid forms of the cliffs in the contour maps. The readability of the natural topography along the sections is reflected in the facade movements and the dynamic arrangement of the horizontal plates. Each floor, just like the contour lines, protrudes at different levels, creating both an aesthetic rhythm and providing functional advantages such as shading and privacy.
