About Stock and Financial Instruments Designers Guide

Stock and Financial Instruments is a printed guide book about designing visual information for stock markets and financial instruments. The book combines data visualization methods with the basics of financial markets. The content is prepared for designers who begin working for financial companies and need a quick understanding of both fields. Terminology was gathered and reviewed with an economics specialist. The book has a black textile hardcover with screen printing and a jacket with an abstract image. The pages use smooth 120 gram paper to prevent show-through.

Unique Properties
This book constitutes a compendium of theoretical and practical knowledge in the range of designing visual information for stocks and financial instruments, stock markets analysis, and any other related. This guidebook is a synthesis of two knowledge branches, that is data visualization and the basics of financial markets. Production Technology
The book is hard covered, covered in textile (so it is more durable and will also give a high aesthetic look). Insides are made with Munken Lynx Smooth 120g/m2 – so that the color of the graphic does not show through to other pages.
Design Challenge
The biggest challenge was to gather all the data and information so that the book finally gives a quick understanding on the both topics.
Project Duration
The project started in February 2020, printed in May 2021
Operation Flow
The book is a knowledge compendium on the topics of data visualization in the context of visualizing for financial markets.
Research
To define a problem I have used Design Thinking methods. This way I have found a problem, then the reason it happens, described the problem and potential users. In the next step, I have clarified the users, tried to understand their needs. Finally had to find a way to solve the given problem and a medium that eventually was a printed book.
Inspiration
The idea came from my own experience working for a financial institution (as a designer) that did not provide special courses on the financial market topic. I have gathered most of the terminology and consulted with an Economic Ph.D. Moreover, on the polish market, there is no such publication that combines the design basics and financial knowledge for all those who are interested in data visualization for stock markets, etc.

Patents
All the copy in the book comes from different sources like books, online articles, etc. All mentioned in the bibliography.
