About Shuibei International Center Office and Business
Shuibei International Center is an office tower with a podium mall, located in an industrial park. The tower is 197.5 meters high and has 43 floors above ground and four basement levels. The form is inspired by bamboo, and a segmented composition unifies the different functions. Multiple sky gardens are placed along the podium and the tower, creating habitable spaces for multiple uses and exhibitions. A landscaped staircase forms an exhibition space for cultural events on the podium, and blurs the boundary between interior and exterior.
Positioned within the contemporary discourse of expressive high-rise design, this work by Aedas demonstrates a sophisticated synthesis of parametric formal exploration and contextual urban sensitivity, the tower's distinctive undulating facade transcends conventional curtain wall monotony through a meticulously choreographed system of horizontal bands that flow and ripple across the building's surface like waves frozen in their eternal dance, this formal strategy not only creates visual interest from multiple vantage points but also suggests the designer's engagement with biomimetic principles that find precedent in the organic geometries explored by Zaha Hadid and other practitioners of fluid modernism, the podium's remarkable perforated golden screen introduces a contrasting material warmth that invites pedestrian engagement while establishing a memorable ground-level identity, illuminated from within during evening hours this feature transforms the base into a glowing beacon of hospitality and commercial vitality, the technical accomplishment evident in the seamless integration of the tower's complex geometry with practical curtain wall construction speaks to advanced digital fabrication capabilities and sophisticated structural engineering, thematically the work appears to celebrate the dynamic energy of contemporary commerce while introducing humanizing organic qualities that soften the potential austerity of corporate architecture, the serpentine profile creates an ever-changing silhouette as viewers move through the surrounding urban fabric ensuring the building maintains dialogue with its context rather than imposing static monumentality, the careful orchestration of artificial lighting transforms the structure into a nocturnal landmark that contributes to the civic imageability of its district, one might consider how the interplay of rigid horizontal elements with fluid overall form mirrors the tension between order and freedom that characterizes successful urban environments.

- Total area is 105000 sqm by gross area while land area is 6988.It has 43 floors above ground and 4 floors in basement.Tower is 197.5 meters high and standard tower floor is 1680 sqm on average. Office floor height is 4.5m high, with 3m clearance.

- Production Technology
- The curtain wall of the tower adopts the unit type glass window, and the metal curtain wall of the podium adopts the slotted curtain wall, and fully optimizes the flat surface, so as to save the cost.
- Design Challenge
- This project is located in high density neighborhood, with multifunction programs. The challenge was to carefully tackle all the limitations and explore new ways to fulfill a sustainable design. The project is very unique in functions, aesthetic and economical senses. Podium curved facade is quite a challenge to be built. This is a ‘one of’ iconic building which will truly represent for the district identity.
- Project Duration
- The project started in May 2015 and finished in September in 2020.
- Operation Flow
- The layout of the tower plans are designed focusing on the best views while minimizing the shadows casted on neighboring buildings. With flexibility in mind, the tower core was designed to be able to be divided into 3 different lift lobbies serving three different tower zones. This allows tenants to rent the tower by sections. Multiple sky gardens spread along the podium and tower, creating habitable spaces and multifunction and exhibition areas.
- Inspiration
- The overall shape of the building originates from the “bamboo” of the totem of Chinese traditional culture, which means its noble character. The “one” shape of the podium, the “two-piece” shape of the tower, and the “three” level bamboo section of the tower symbolize the “one in life, two in three, three in all” of Taoism, forming the heaven, earth and man, that is, the three-stage structure of the tower.
