About Seer Robotics Wheeled Humanoid Robot
Seer Robotics is a wheeled humanoid robot developed for industrial tasks. The robot switches between two modes. In motion mode, a lowered posture allows fast movement of up to 10 metres per second. In work mode, a raised posture lets the robotic arm, hand and chassis work together on a wide range of tasks. Each task can be set through natural language or an application, and the robot then uses a semantic map to navigate and avoid obstacles. Aluminium alloy and PEEK parts support use in high temperature environments.
Within the expanding field of autonomous robotics and human-machine collaborative systems, Fan Wu's Wheeled Humanoid Robot emerges as a thoughtful synthesis of functional engineering requirements and considered aesthetic sensibilities that seek to bridge the perceptual gap between purely industrial machinery and approachable assistive companions. The design appears to engage with longstanding conversations in robotics regarding the uncanny valley phenomenon, strategically navigating toward a formal vocabulary that suggests capability and intelligence without attempting photorealistic human mimicry, instead establishing a distinctive machine identity that communicates through proportion, gesture, and material presence. Technical accomplishment manifests throughout the sculptural shell design, where compound curves flow seamlessly between structural sections while maintaining clear visual articulation of functional zones, the chest display panel providing informational transparency, the shoulder and wrist joints telegraphing rotational capability, and the cranial sensor cluster suggesting perceptual awareness. The chromatic strategy demonstrates sophisticated restraint, employing a predominantly monochromatic silver-gray palette that evokes professional-grade equipment while the precisely deployed cyan accent lighting introduces warmth and vitality to what might otherwise read as coldly mechanical, these blue tones traditionally associated with clarity, communication, and trustworthiness in contemporary technology design. The wheeled mobility platform represents a pragmatic alternative to bipedal locomotion, suggesting applications in environments requiring stability and efficiency over terrain-adaptive walking, perhaps warehousing, healthcare, hospitality, or research contexts where smooth floor surfaces predominate. One might observe how the articulated hands, with their individually segmented fingers, communicate manipulative capability while their dark elastomeric surfaces suggest both grip functionality and deliberate visual differentiation from the metallic body shell. The frontal pose with one hand raised in an apparent greeting gesture invites consideration of the robot as potential collaborator rather than mere tool, embodying design philosophy that positions autonomous machines as partners in human endeavor. How might continued refinement of such formal vocabularies shape evolving human relationships with increasingly capable autonomous systems?

- Unique Properties
- SEER Robotics has developed a wheeled humanoid robot capable of switching motion and work modes, allowing for autonomous adjustments based on task requirements to facilitate task generalization in complex scenarios. In motion mode, the robot can achieve high speed movement of up to 10 m/s by lowering its posture. While in work mode, the robot elevates its posture and utilizes the multi DOF collaboration of its robotic arm, hand, and chassis to effectively perform a wide array of tasks.

- Production Technology
- Constructed from aluminum alloys and PEEK materials, which have a glass transition temperature exceeding 140°C and can withstand long term use at temperatures up to 260°C, this humanoid robot is designed to endure high temperature industrial environments, such as steel smelting, or operate in hot climates. Additionally, the laser sensor features a defogging coating that prevents water condensation, allowing for a broad operational temperature range from -25°C to 60°C.
- Design Challenge
- The availability of extensive AI training data is the key to developing industrial grade wheeled humanoid robots. SEER is database, constructed over a decade of research and development in industrial robotics, has documented essential execution data, including dynamic path planning, non standard grasping techniques, and responses to usual conditions. This advances the development of industrial grade dual posture wheeled humanoid robots with adaptive learning capabilities.
- Project Duration
- The project commenced in January 2024 in Shanghai, wrapped up in August 2024 in the same city, and was subsequently exhibited in September 2024 at the Shanghai International Industry Fair.
- Operation Flow
- The process to interact with wheeled humanoid robot: a task such as fetching a water cup can be set through natural language or an APP. The system then generates a 3D map enriched with semantic information. Modularized hardware components, such as a gripping arm or camera, can be assembled as needed, and motion parameters can be adjusted via a graphical interface. Once the task is assigned, the robot utilizes the semantic map to navigate and avoid obstacles until the task is done.
- Research
- SEER robotics applications cover semi-automated human-machine collaboration, automated production lines, and certain scenarios demanding high precision, such as semiconductor manufacturing. The arm joints and the core controller feature a transparent design, facilitating maintenance checks by staff. The modularized arm and hand enable quick disassembly and replacement. The robust geometric design imparts a sense of stability and strength and embodies mechanical and futuristic senses.
- Inspiration
- As the community faces an aging population and the imperative to enhance productivity, there is a growing demand for multifunctional and intelligent industrial robots that can fully relieve humans from intense, risky, and repetitive labor. The rapid advancement of AI technology, coupled with SEER Robotics' multimodal adaptability, enables the robot to achieve true end to end intelligence across various scenarios.
