About Poufs With 1000 Ways to Arranged Pouf

Chairry is a modular pouf system designed for shared and public interiors. Each pouf has a pie shape, so several units can be joined to form squares, circles and many other patterns. A single pouf offers a private seat, while a circular arrangement supports group interaction. Each seat is made from a three-dimensional machine-cut polystyrene core, strengthened with plywood and covered with foam and fleece. Each unit measures 650 mm in width, 650 mm in depth and 450 mm in height. When not in use, the poufs can be stacked and stored in a small area.

Production Technology
As far as design methodology, the his initial design focus was multi-functionality and storage efficiency. The designer's furniture can be rearranged to suit the need of the user. When not in use, the poufs can be arranged or stacked stylistically in a discrete location. Secondly, the designer wanted to focus on ergonomics and comfort.
Each pouf seats made of a piece of 3D machine cut polystyrene strengthened with plywood and covered with foam and fleece.
Design Challenge
The making skill is a difficult challenge. The designer visited tatami maker, bamboo artist, grass weaving studio. None of them could make pie shape furniture, not to mention link them together. After surveying many places, the designer decided to use fleece fabric for sitting comfort concern.
Project Duration
The project started in April, 2019 in Taipei and finished in August, 2019 in the same location.
Operation Flow
Unlike an open space with an ordinary pouf, these poufs can be set up stylistically in eye catching patterns for interior decoration or used functionally in a circular formation for peoples’ interaction as well as separated into smaller groups of two or three for persons’ privacy.
Research
As cutting a pie, the designer moved each piece as if the pie shapes were connected together and made a square. Then he thought about what he could make using this design idea. Initially, the designer thought about creating a children's toy. Finally, he decided to create something where people could rearrange modules to suit their need. This could incorporate functionality with individual creativity.
Inspiration
When cutting a circular piece of paper into slices and playing with them , the pieces fell into so many shapes and patterns while connected to each other so the idea grew to make a child's toy. This developed into building a toy for adults to play with, therefore Chairry was born.

Design Interview about Poufs With 1000 Ways to Arranged Pouf

I was cutting a circular piece of paper into slices and playing, the pieces fell into so many shapes and patterns while connected to each other so the idea grew to make a child's toy. This developed into building a toy for adults to play with, therefore Chairry was born.

I'm trying to use pure Echo friendly materials to renew this design. It is a project that goes well in the public and use it with lots of people. I'm working on for letting it goes well by using it out door.

It took me three weeks to make the idea come ture.

Most of the furniture makers rejected making this project because they are afraid of making moving furniture. I visited tatami maker, bamboo artist, grass weaving studio. None of them could make pie shape furniture, not to mention link them together. After surveying many places, the I decided to use fleece fabric for sitting comfort concern.
