About Oak Project Handmade Fashion

Oak Project is a hand-woven knitwear collection inspired by the oak forests of the Zagros mountains in Iran. Each cape is knitted entirely by hand with two knitting needles, without industrial machines. One cape takes about 100 to 120 hours to complete. Natural wool and cotton are used, so the garments are durable and safe for the environment. The motifs are first drawn freehand, then prepared as carpet patterns, so the knitting follows the method of a hand-woven carpet. Sizes are woven to order using standard clothing measurements.

Production Technology
In execution of LILIDCHI projects, the cheap labor force, whose rights are being violated, has not been used.

The best and the highest grade materials are natural wool and cotton that will never harm the environment undoubtedly; thus, it's the indication of highly reliable and brilliant quality of its production that will never damage quickly and will be usable for long time.
Design Challenge
All designs and motifs are drawn through a quick and freehand drawing, then they are applied and drawn in illustration software application as the form of carpet designs. Finally, the designs are obtained which are exactly like the weaving procedures of a hand-woven carpet.
Project Duration
The project started in April 2020 in Tehran and finished in September 2021 in Tehran, and was exhibited in Zaafaranie art studio in November 2021.
Operation Flow
Once the designs phases are accomplished, they are printed in full size and delivered to our team of trained weavers, who implement the projects in a completely hand-woven manner without the use of any industrial machines.
The only tool used in this project is 2 knitting needles. Cloths are woven by hand from a foundation row of stiches on the needle. QC is implemented throughout the projects because even one mistake causes the whole knitwear to be unraveled and knitted the right way again.
Research
Qashqai designs were the first subject for researching since 2015 then field research about Nomadic tribes.
In preliminary sketches, the artworks were presented in the form of knitting designs more similar to carpets and upon continuing this process in 2018, we selected historical Kashan Sialk Pottery motifs.
Oak is the combination of our previous studies. It would take much time in nature through impressive inspirations to design this project, and finally in 2020, was presented.
Inspiration
My passion to Zagros Oak Forests
Every year, I have a strong desire to inspire one of the precious treasures of art of my homeland, Iran and design these trustworthy artistic motifs on my knitwear collection while it seems that nature, as the most original and the most authentic art throughout the world should not be forgotten. So that, I aim to inspire a piece of generous nature for new winter hand-woven clothes in order to create a brilliant image of the impressive glory of nature.

Design Interview about Oak Project Handmade Fashion

At the beginning of this route, my attention was drawn to Qashqai paintings and carpets, which are a combination of animal and plant motifs. And the latest was from nature. I researched these works and after talking to the women of this great tribe, I realized that in the past, all stages of carpet production from design to weaving were done only by Qashqai women. In my opinion, the independence and freedom of Qashqai women in presenting the art of carpet weaving has been the most important point of this process.

Design is an innate desire to communicate and communicate, a skill used in all the visual arts and design. Creating the best solution to problems is different solutions for making a product that is very pleasant and enjoyable to use. Design can mean whatever you want it to mean to you. Design is about communicating feelings through visual sensations and unique experiences. People don't just want products that work, they want to feel happy while using them.

I plan to exhibit at the gallery in new york. I want to partner with some artists there to publish and design a project in some kind of art aspects. I usually live in the future, not the past. I think this is helping me to see the world in a better way.

The oak Project is very complex project. The fashion designing of a product follows one process after the other as the development of design requires rigorous involvement. Each process is a course of action that will help in reaching the end goal easily. The product development process in fashion stems from an idea that is visualized in an expressive form to reach the goals without constraints. The oak design creative process involves several steps that take atleast 12 to 18 months to reach its goal.

In my recent collection, “Oak”, I decided to address the most original form of art in the world, which is nature in my point of view. To design this collection, I traveled through Iran’s nature and its different parts for many hours, such as the “Lut” desert, and while being faded into their beauties, illustrating them.

No. It belongs to my brand, Lilidchi. I and my team produce our products and have a business plan and have our own market.

I have tried to present a new image of the desert to the audience. To achieve this goal, I have used various and bright colors and the motif of animals such as camels that live in the desert and are reminiscent of the sunny and hot days of this pristine habitat.

Usually no. But Persian paintings help me to imagine my ideas.

The target of this project is mostly women. But I have men's customers too. I talk about the Iran market. The age of my customers is between 20-65. It shows you there is a wide range of people.

“Oak”, I decided to address the most original form of art in the world, which is nature in my point of view. Oak Forest in Iran burn in a fire last year. I want to present my project to the nature of my country.

I had usually buy fashion magazines and find out what is the news in fashion. Check social media to be up to date is very important. Todays people took much time in internet base medias. With my development team we observe the fashion trends and habits of society.

Persian Motifs very helpful in this proccess. Persian art or Iranian art has one of the richest art heritages in world history and has been strong in many media including architecture, painting, weaving, pottery, calligraphy, metalworking, and sculpture.

Traveling in the desert is very hard and takes lots of energy. Because I have to travel in summer and it is so challenging.

Last year I won the gold prize in IDA Design Award and after that, I decide to submit my work to another competition. After searching and talking to other designers I found A' Design is a very difficult award and so classy in the fashion field. So I decide to submit my work here.

I learn that I should bring more time into my design to work in international markets. I need to present my designs to more people and plan to have a runway in Europe.
