About Memory Growth Lounge Chair
Memory Growth is a lounge chair designed for modern homes. The design is inspired by traditional Chinese backrest chairs and recalls the childhood memories of people born in the 1980s. The main frame is made of bent round tube, welded and then polished for both strength and a smooth appearance. The seat cushion and the backrest combine shaped foam with wood boards and are fixed to the frame with screws. Simple lines and modern colors suit several room types, and assembly is easy. The chair measures 900 mm in width, 780 mm in depth and 850 mm in height.
ZIEL HOME FURNISHING TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD's Memory Growth Lounge Chair emerges from contemporary furniture design traditions that synthesize mid-century modernist structural clarity with the current appreciation for tactile comfort and warm material palettes characteristic of Nordic-influenced residential aesthetics. The design demonstrates sophisticated understanding of tubular metal frame construction, employing continuous bent tubing to create a distinctive armature that provides both structural integrity and visual lightness, allowing the generous upholstered elements to appear almost suspended within the linear framework. The selection of bouclé textile for the upholstery proves particularly accomplished, as this characteristically nubby, loop-pile weave simultaneously communicates visual warmth, tactile invitation, and material quality while maintaining the neutral chromatic restraint essential to versatile domestic integration. The proportional relationships between frame and cushion elements suggest careful attention to ergonomic considerations, with the oval backrest positioned to support natural spinal curvature while the substantial armrests provide comfortable support at appropriate height. The warm champagne or soft beige finish applied to the metal framework represents a thoughtful departure from conventional black or chrome treatments, enabling the piece to harmonize with wood tones and natural fiber textiles that define contemporary warm minimalist interiors. This presentation thoughtfully contextualizes the chair within an aspirational domestic vignette, employing carefully curated lifestyle elements that suggest the design's suitability for contemplative leisure activities. The organic sculptural side table in pale natural wood establishes complementary material dialogue, while botanical elements and soft textiles complete the atmospheric suggestion of refined comfort. One might consider how this design achieves the challenging balance between visual interest and domestic versatility, offering distinctive character while remaining accommodating to diverse interior contexts.

- Memory growth is a comfortable lounge chair from the growth memory of the Chinese born in the 1980s. It uses simple lines and comfortable soft bags to match the functions of the lounge chair in the modern home environment. Modern style and fashionable colors matching can add taste to home life. Memory growth is suitable for use in multiple scenes and is easy to install.

- Production Technology
- The main frame of Memory growth is made of round pipe bending and welding. We fully consider the beauty and strength of the welded part of the round pipe when welding the round pipe. The port of each welding position will be cut first, and then fully welded and polished. The cushion part and the backrest part are combined with styling cotton and wood board and then connected with the main frame by screws. The styling cotton can make the cushion and backrest satisfy the aesthetics of the shape while ensuring the comfort of sitting.
- Design Challenge
- It may be the biggest challenge to study the structure and craftsmanship of the chair production process, the presentation of colors, to achieve the perfect combination of comfort and robustness, and how to awaken the memories of people in the 1980s.
- Project Duration
- The project started in Zhengzhou in March 2021 and finished in Zhengzhou in August 2021.
- Operation Flow
- When you are tired, Memory growth greets you for the first time. When you are in it, the cushion and backrest are both elastic and supportive. The slanted profile embraces you like a partner; when you are getting together with friends, Memory growth quietly carries your friendship and share happy time.
- Research
- With the rapid increase of modern people’s anxiety in life, more and more people want to seek the comfort of home and yearn for the good things in life. Memory growth is mainly inspired by traditional Chinese old-fashioned back chairs, hoping to give people a warm care in the 1980s. We hope that Memory growth can convey good memories to them, and add a kind of innocent happiness brought by memory to life through comfortable companionship in modern homes.
- Inspiration
- The design was inspired by a traditional backrest chair from my grandmother’s house when I was young. I don’t know who designed this chair, but it’s widely spread among the people. I tried to replace the traditional solid wood furniture of the old tenon and tenon structure with a modern design, and present a lounge chair that can evoke people’s growth and memory. Different colors carry different growth memories. In its company, it opens people's innermost memory of good memories.
