About Eave Control Terminal
Eave is a smart control panel for home automation. The design is inspired by the landscape of Jiangnan water towns, with horizontal eave lines and a vertical pattern that suggests flowing water. The body is made of 6063 aluminium alloy for corrosion and scratch resistance. The button cover has a sandblasted anodised finish with a stone-like texture, and the knob is mirror polished. Control is possible by knob, button or mobile application. The knob indicator shows the working status through light effects. An elderly care mode sends sleep status and fall alerts to caregivers.
Hdl Automation Co., Ltd.'s Eave Control Terminal exemplifies the sophisticated convergence of functional necessity and refined aesthetic sensibility that characterizes the most accomplished achievements in contemporary domestic technology design. Emerging from a design philosophy that prioritizes seamless architectural integration, this control interface demonstrates remarkable restraint in its visual vocabulary, employing a palette of nuanced graphite tones that suggest both technological precision and domestic warmth. The compositional strategy reveals considerable sophistication through its asymmetrical arrangement, positioning the circular temperature control element as a visual anchor while the extended grid of programmable scene controls provides comprehensive household management capabilities. Technical accomplishment manifests through the careful gradation of surface values that implies three-dimensional form without aggressive dimensionality, the precise spacing of modular panels that creates visual rhythm without monotony, and the selective introduction of luminous cyan accents that guide user attention without disrupting chromatic unity. The typographic treatment demonstrates thoughtful hierarchy, with function labels rendered in clear white characters against the darkened surface, ensuring legibility while maintaining the understated elegance appropriate for residential environments. Thematically, the work celebrates the contemporary aspiration toward intelligent living spaces where technology serves human comfort through intuitive interfaces that require minimal cognitive engagement. The circular dial evokes historical associations with analog control mechanisms while its digital display and surrounding accent lighting firmly establish its contemporary technological identity. One might observe how the extended horizontal format suggests panoramic awareness, the interface presenting domestic systems as a unified field of controllable elements rather than isolated functions. What aspects of daily ritual and domestic comfort does this comprehensive control system invite inhabitants to reconsider?

- Production Technology
- The main body of the product is crafted from 6063 aluminium alloy, offering corrosion and scratch resistance. The button cover surface utilises sandblasting anodisation to achieve an imitation stone texture, while the knob surface employs mirror polished anodisation. Bearings and optical tracking sensors are applied at the knob position to ensure smooth rotation.
- Design Challenge
- Combining traditional aesthetics with modern technology posed a challenge during the R and D process. The smart control panel presents graceful eave lines horizontally and simulates the delicate flow of water vertically, symbolising the traditional architectural style and water forms of Jiangnan water towns. The elegance of Jiangnan is blended in one, allowing users to experience the charm of Eastern aesthetics and feel the intertwining of tradition and modernity, nature and craftsmanship.
- Project Duration
- The project was designed and developed in Guangzhou in June 2023 and launched in China in October 2024.
- Operation Flow
- This device supports control methods of knob, button, and mobile app. It meets various functions such as intelligent adjustment, remote control, security monitoring, and energy saving management. The knob indicator intuitively displays the working status through various light effects, providing users with a convenient, intelligent, and energy efficient experience. Moreover, Eave features an elderly care mode that synchronises the sleep status and fall alerts of the elderly to caregivers.
- Research
- Smart panels in the market often focus excessively on functionality and a tech forward appearance, overlooking the integration with traditional aesthetics. To this end, the design team delved into the cultural connotations and aesthetic characteristics of Jiangnan water towns, developing this smart panel. The aim was to showcase the natural scenery and humanistic sentiment of Jiangnan water towns through unique design language, offering users a brand new interactive experience.
- Inspiration
- The design inspiration comes from the small bridges, flowing water, and houses of Jiangnan water towns. Employing graceful eave lines and the delicate flow of water, it symbolises the traditional architectural style of Jiangnan water towns and the natural beauty of flowing water. This not only embodies the Eastern philosophy of Harmony Between Man and Nature, emphasising the harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature, but also bestows the product with cultural heritage and aesthetic value.
