About Delmar Porcelain Tile

Delmar is a large-format porcelain tile inspired by coral formations on the seabed. The tile shows organic forms and vibrant patterns that intertwine into a continuous composition. Each piece measures 120 by 240 cm, has a thickness of 10 mm and is made of high quality porcelain. A glossy finish gives the surface a modern and refined appearance. High breaking strength, abrasion resistance and a low water absorption rate support long term use in moist and busy areas such as poolsides, spa centres and bathrooms.

NG Kutahya Seramik's Delmar Porcelain Tile emerges from the distinguished tradition of ceramic innovation that has long characterized the finest achievements in architectural surface design, demonstrating how contemporary manufacturing excellence can capture and translate the sublime beauty of rare geological formations into accessible, enduring building materials. The work presented here showcases the tile deployed as a dramatic fireplace surround, where its bookmatched installation creates a symmetrical veining pattern that evokes the meditative qualities of natural stone while offering the practical advantages of porcelain composition. The chromatic sophistication evident in the swirling passages of blue, from deep marine ultramarine through luminous cerulean to subtle lavender undertones, demonstrates remarkable fidelity to the visual complexity found in precious blue granite specimens, while the integration of warm golden veining introduces organic warmth that prevents the cool palette from becoming austere. Technical accomplishment manifests in the seamless continuity of pattern across multiple tile units, the precision of the bookmatching that creates convincing mirror-image symmetry, and the lustrous surface finish that captures and reflects ambient light while maintaining the depth and dimensional quality characteristic of polished stone. The installation context reveals thoughtful material dialogue, positioning the organic flowing patterns of the porcelain against the disciplined linear rhythm of adjacent ribbed panels, creating a conversation between natural and geometric vocabularies that enriches the spatial experience. Thematically, the work engages enduring human fascinations with elemental transformation, the geological processes that create precious stones over millennia here translated into ceramic form through technological alchemy, and with the primal comfort of the hearth as domestic anchor. The juxtaposition of cool blue stone imagery with warm firelight activates archetypal associations of shelter, warmth, and refined dwelling that transcend cultural boundaries. Viewers might contemplate how this material negotiates between authenticity and interpretation, between the geological and the manufactured, inviting reflection on contemporary relationships with natural materials and the creative possibilities inherent in ceramic innovation.

Production Technology
Made from premium porcelain materials, Delmar guarantees long-lasting durability. Its sturdy construction stands up to the test of time, preserving its flawless appearance even in high-traffic areas or environments exposed to moisture.
Design Challenge
During the development of the project, one challenge was balancing the intricate oceanic theme of Delmar with practical considerations such as durability and suitability for various environments. This obstacle was addressed through extensive research into materials that could withstand moisture and high-traffic areas while maintaining the desired aesthetic. Additionally, incorporating biophilic design principles required seamlessly integrating natural elements into the design without compromising functionality. External factors such as advancements in porcelain tile technology and the availability of sustainable materials influenced decision-making, while social perspectives on sustainability and wellness guided the project's direction.
Project Duration
The project began in July 2022 at Ng Kutahya, and we are still in production.
Operation Flow
Delmar porcelain tile can be easily installed using standard porcelain tile installation techniques. It is recommended to be installed by a professional.
Research
With the growing appreciation for nature in recent years, biophilic themes have become increasingly popular in interior design. The incorporation of natural elements into indoor spaces has been proven to positively impact human well-being and mental health. As a result, detailed studies were conducted to prepare for designing a biophilic-themed project.
First, inspiration was drawn from nature, and research was conducted on the positive effects of natural materials and organic forms on human psychology. The impact of elements such as vegetation, water features, and natural light in creating a sense of tranquility and harmony within spaces was observed.
Next, a concept was developed based on biophilic design principles. Features such as plant walls, stone textures, and wood details were incorporated to simulate natural landscapes within the interior. Large windows and open spaces were also designed to maximize natural light penetration into the space.
Throughout the design process, the focus was on incorporating details that would strengthen the connection to nature and reduce stress. The goal was to create an atmosphere that promotes relaxation and rejuvenation through indoor plant arrangements, water elements, and the careful selection of natural materials.
Finally, thorough planning and visualization were conducted to ensure the feasibility and user-friendliness of the design. Each step was carefully evaluated to ensure that the biophilic-themed design would contribute to creating healthier and more serene indoor environments.
These preparatory studies have laid the foundation for the biophilic-themed design project, aiming to provide a natural experience within indoor spaces.
Inspiration
Inspired by the coral formations of Maragogi, Brazilian Coral reflects the ecological beauty of nature in an elegant marble-like form, carefully shaping the natural harmony of organic forms in color and design aesthetics. Like the tranquillity that vegetation, water texture and natural light bring to serene spaces, this design captures a sense of relaxation and renewal. Its unique patterns seamlessly intertwine, creating a natural and endless composition.
