About Danquan 168 Cave Aging Premium Liquor

Danquan 168 is a packaging design for a premium sauce flavoured Baijiu produced in Nandan, Guangxi. The bottle is made of high borosilicate glass with a titanium plated surface, shaped by 3D embossing and laser engraving with a precision of 0.1 millimetres. The engraved textures recall the sedimentary formations of limestone caves and refract light when the bottle is turned. The outer box uses a layered structure that abstracts the local cave landscape. The packaging measures 180 by 108 by 290 millimetres and links the regional cave ageing tradition to the product.

Chuangyi Packaging Design Co., Ltd. in Chengdu's Danquan 168 Cave Aging Premium Liquor exemplifies the contemporary convergence of artisanal heritage and sophisticated material innovation in premium spirits presentation, positioning itself within a distinguished lineage of vessel designs that transcend mere containment to achieve sculptural significance. The design team appears to have drawn inspiration from the ancient practice of cave aging, translating the geological poetry of subterranean maturation chambers into a vessel whose upper surfaces deliberately evoke the irregular, time-worn textures of natural stone formations while maintaining the refined elegance expected of premium libations. The anthropomorphic silhouette, suggesting a dignified human torso, participates in venerable traditions of figurative vessel design spanning ceramic history while introducing distinctly contemporary formal vocabulary through its precise integration of polished metallic passages and deliberately raw textural zones. Technical accomplishment manifests particularly in the seamless transition between surface treatments, where highly reflective bronze-toned areas suggesting molten precious metal give way to matte, rock-like textures with remarkable naturalistic conviction. The calligraphic numerals "168," rendered in flowing gold script, introduce auspicious numerical symbolism associated with prosperity and fortune in Eastern cultural traditions, their gestural freedom contrasting eloquently with the geometric precision of the presentation box's architectural framing. The packaging system as a whole demonstrates sophisticated understanding of ceremonial presentation, with the box functioning as a secular reliquary that elevates the vessel to artifact status through its vitrine-like recessed window and elegant gold border detail. The chromatic program of warm metallics against deep brown achieves both visual warmth and perceptual value, suggesting aged patina, earthen depths, and refined taste. One might contemplate how the deliberate tension between natural irregularity and manufactured precision speaks to broader cultural conversations about authenticity, heritage, and the transformation of raw materials through patient craft.

Production Technology
The bottle is crafted from high borosilicate glass, processed through 3D embossing, with a titanium plated surface that replicates the metallic texture of cave formations. This creates a distinctive style and enhances durability. Specially treated, the glass maintains liquor purity while refracting unique radiance. The environmentally friendly packaging combines traditional craftsmanship with modern printing, embodying a environmental commitment and pursuit of excellence.
Design Challenge
The challenge was transforming rugged cave formations into a refined style for premium liquor. The team employed parametric modeling to convert geological data into decorative patterns, preserving natural textures without literal kitsch. The packaging underwent titanium etching and plating techniques, using laser engraving to create microscopic 3D textures onto the glass bottle with 0.1mm precision. These textures refract light to mimic dynamic subterranean shimmer for a striking visual appeal.
Project Duration
The design and development of this project started in CREATEUNIDEA, in April 2024. It was completed on September 14th, 2024.
Operation Flow
The packaging design creates immersive, multisensory interactions. When rotating the bottle, its titanium plated surface refracts light to produce flowing halos, reminiscent of cave stalactites. The karst inspired texture, achieved through specialized etching, preserves the raw tactility of the stone while delivering a refined metallic texture. Each touch reveals layered nuances. It is also designed with a collectible value, exuding a unique aesthetic appeal.
Research
The integration of natural elements makes the product more appealing, while communicating the ecological values advocated by the brand. After extensive research in Nandan, Guangxi, the design team discovered how the regional ancient rock formations resonate with the cave aging techniques of Danquan Liquor. By using geological textures for visual expression and cave aging culture as spiritual core, the design bridges geographical heritage, product essence, and modern consumer experience.
Inspiration
The design draws sleek lines from karst caves of Nandan, a wonder shaped by millennia of natural erosion. It contrasts the rough texture of stone walls with the technological luster of titanium metal, creating a visual dialogue between primal and futuristic elements. Bottled liquor flows like underground rivers, while the layered structure of the outer box represents the depth of limestone caves. Metallic gold, black diamond, and violet gold enhance its premium and distinctive identity.
