About CTG Sanya Treasure Multifamily Residential

Ctg Sanya Treasure is a multifamily residential community designed to embrace the essence of tropical living. Set along the river in Haitang Bay, the project features 38 medium rise towers immersed in a lush jungle landscape. Inspired by the fluidity of nature, the design fosters a seamless blend between indoor and outdoor spaces, with wrap-around balconies encircling open floor plans that promote natural cross-ventilation and uninterrupted views.

Porto Folio Architects's CTG Sanya Treasure Multifamily Residential emerges from the landscape as a compelling exemplar of contemporary organic modernism, where architectural form appears to have been shaped by the same elemental forces that sculpt coastal shorelines and weathered stone. The design demonstrates a sophisticated engagement with the horizontal datum, employing stacked balcony bands that wrap continuously around the tower's volume, creating an effect of geological stratification rendered in refined architectural materials. This formal strategy achieves multiple objectives simultaneously: it provides generous outdoor living spaces for residents, establishes a distinctive visual identity recognizable within the broader development context, and creates a rhythmic facade pattern that shifts dynamically as viewing angles change. The material palette exhibits thoughtful restraint, with warm concrete tones establishing a luminous presence against the sky while extensive glazing systems introduce transparency and reflectivity that animate the composition throughout the day. The podium level introduces a contrasting formal vocabulary through its flowing canopy element, which appears to have been lifted and stretched like fabric, creating sheltered gathering spaces and establishing a welcoming threshold condition. Landscape integration demonstrates equal sophistication, with subtropical plantings arranged in naturalistic groupings that soften the architectural mass and create inviting pedestrian environments. The work participates in an ongoing architectural conversation about the relationship between building and environment, suggesting that contemporary residential design might aspire simultaneously to formal distinction, environmental responsiveness, and experiential richness. Viewers may find themselves contemplating how architectural rhythm and material warmth combine to create spaces that speak to fundamental human desires for shelter, prospect, and beauty.

Production Technology
. Usage of readily available local construction and finish materials. Balustrade glass is dark and reflective to support balcony privacy. Windows the same, with additional low energy loss and gain specification. Use of gently pitched roofs for better recuperative rainfall management and to hide mechanical penthouses. Use of projecting nosings on balcony edges to increase shading of rooms. Columns placed outside of sliding glass doors which when fully open integrate indoor and outdoor spaces.
Design Challenge
During the design process the allowable height for the towers kept changing, resulting in the production of some 51 different master plan proposals before the final height allowance was determined.
Project Duration
Project design was started in 2022 with teams in Montreal, Hainan and Shanghai. 50% of towers are presently completed and sold, with completion projected for end of 2025.
Operation Flow
Careful master planning a relaxed circulation pattern throughout the project’s tropical landscaping and also ensured easy pedestrian access to a new commercial centre across the street presently under construction.
Research
Prior to starting project design, extensive research was carried out, in coordination with the client, of market conditions on Hainan Island, available apartment types and sizes, potential purchaser profiles, adjacent and nearby amenities and visits to surrounding similar developments. As the design proceeded, this research continued and was integrated into the final design
Inspiration
A dream of a tropical lifestyle for a friendly community of families living in a collection of medium-rise towers, integrating their living experiences with the joys of seeing ever changing cloudscapes, feeling sea breezes, experiencing lush tropical landscaping both at ground level and on their balconies.
The landscape design inspiration for the ground level circulation is have overhanging trees and vegetation to completely hide the tower residences and to discover their entrances by surprise
