About Color Change Clothing

Color Change is a garment made from temperature-sensitive materials. The fabric changes color when it meets body heat, sunlight or the warmth of another person. Close contact such as a hug therefore becomes visible on the surface of the clothing. The pattern is cut to highlight the structural lines of the garment, and these lines are closed with adhesive tape. The tape does not react to temperature, so it stays fixed while the surrounding fabric shifts in color. The contrast between the two materials makes hidden changes in warmth easy to see.

Unique Properties
The chemical interaction between people: hugs, breathes, kisses, and the temperature of the human body changes with the acceleration of the heartbeat. These changes in temperature and energy are in a state that cannot be seen with the eyes. unpredictable. The original intention of this design is to use temperature-changing materials to visualize these changes hidden in things. Design the clothing version to highlight the structural lines and use stickers to close the structural lines.

Production Technology
There are two materials used in this garment. One is a fabric that can change with temperature. For example, human body temperature and other temperatures will directly change the color of the fabric. The other is the adhesive tape, which is just different from the previous materialand it will not change with temperature changes. It just happens that the two materials have a sharp contrast.
Design Challenge
How to express temperature and temperature changes in the form of clothing design.
Project Duration
The project started in Guangzhou in January 2020 and was completed in Shenzhen in March 2020.
Operation Flow
The clothing can be made of fabrics that change color with changes in temperature. The temperature emitted by the body during use will change the shape of the clothing,or contact with other people or even sunlight will change the color.

Inspiration
The original intention of this design is to use temperature-varying materials to visualize things that cannot be observed with the eyes. The design uses structural thread to highlight the clothing structure, which is a three-dimensional plane fabric.
