About Avant Bathroom Furniture

Avant, a collection of suspended furniture with a design contemporary and timeless beauty, which exalts the simplicity of the rectangular shape. A robust and minimalist perimeter frame in relief, encloses the profile of the suspended furniture. The fronts are assembled, thanks to the exclusive brushed aluminum profile, a distinctive feature of the collection, which allows different thicknesses of top and/or glass to be joined, creating an asymmetrical and balanced relationship. Sight and touch coexist in a dialectical relationship, in a multisensory composition through shapes and materials.

This thoughtfully composed bathroom furniture system engages the evolving dialogue between natural materiality and refined geometric minimalism that characterizes contemporary residential interior design, drawing upon northern craft traditions that privilege honest expression of wood grain alongside Mediterranean appreciation for geological beauty embodied in stone's organic patterning. The design demonstrates sophisticated understanding of proportional relationships, with the dominant horizontal vanity unit establishing a grounding datum line from which the tall vertical storage column rises in elegant counterpoint, their asymmetrical arrangement creating dynamic visual interest while maintaining overall compositional equilibrium through careful mass distribution and material continuity. The selection of warm walnut veneer with its flowing linear grain pattern introduces organic vitality and tactile warmth into the bathroom environment, a space traditionally dominated by cool hard surfaces, while the integrated band of green-gray marble or stone composite provides striking contrast through its complex geological veining in sage, celadon, and subtle coral tones that suggest natural formation processes spanning geological time. This material juxtaposition creates visual richness without excessive ornamentation, allowing the inherent beauty of carefully selected natural materials to provide decorative interest through their authentic surface qualities rather than applied embellishment. The minimalist black faucet rising with slender vertical precision from the white countertop demonstrates restraint in fixture selection, its matte finish and geometric simplicity allowing it to function as punctuation mark rather than competing focal point, while the circular magnifying mirror extending on its articulated arm introduces functional utility alongside sculptural three-dimensionality that enriches the compositional vocabulary. The large frameless mirror occupying the upper register serves multiple purposes simultaneously: it provides essential functional utility for daily grooming rituals, multiplies perceived spatial volume through reflection, introduces luminous atmospheric quality by capturing natural daylight, and creates layered visual complexity through its revelation of architectural elements and verdant plantings beyond the immediate frame, thereby connecting the intimate bathroom interior to broader domestic and natural contexts. The textured neutral wall finish in warm greige tones provides sophisticated backdrop that neither competes with nor diminishes the furniture's material presence, its subtle mottling suggesting specialized decorative plaster or natural stone effect that adds tactile visual interest while maintaining overall tonal restraint. Natural illumination entering from the right casts organic shadow patterns across wall surfaces, these irregular shapes derived from foliage silhouettes animating the planar surfaces and introducing temporal specificity that connects the static composition to dynamic cycles of daylight progression. The design's attention to detail resolution appears throughout: in the handleless drawer system that maintains uninterrupted surface continuity, in the precise geometric overhang of the countertop extending beyond the cabinet body, in the careful alignment of the stone accent band across separate furniture elements to create material rhythm, and in the coordination of timber grain direction to emphasize horizontal flow. This bathroom furniture composition invites contemplation of how thoughtful material selection, refined proportional relationships, and honest expression of natural substances can transform utilitarian spaces into serene sanctuaries that honor both functional necessity and aesthetic aspiration, asking viewers to consider the quiet luxury found not in ostentatious display but in the careful orchestration of elemental materials allowed to speak their authentic material languages within a framework of geometric clarity and compositional balance.

Production Technology
This design is developed with ergonomic standards and 3D creation processes. Always after an exhaustive creative process of sketches and models, working on the colors and textures with collaborating suppliers of our studio. Market analysis and previous products showed us the way to follow in this design that is incorporated into an extensive program of washbasins and container elements for the firm Akua belonging to Grupo Bono. The design is developed with sustainable materials such as chipboard and MDF. The construction process is developed in the Grupo Bono factory, which has the highest production technology in the furniture manufacturing industry.
Design Challenge
The biggest challenge is to find the perfect balance between aesthetics, form, materials and technologies, with an adjusted manufacturing cost price. Considering that our client is part of a medium segment with high production and turnover. High visual impact + maximum functionality // High productivity + low cost.
Project Duration
This Project started in Valencia (SPAIN) in June 2023 and is currently in the last phase of completion.
Operation Flow
The furniture in the Avant collection is simple to use. Doors and drawers open with cushioned closure.
The Avant mirror has a rotation and approach system for the magnifying lens, practicable by hand.
Research
Extensive market research conducted by our client, as well as historical knowledge of the actual needs of users, provides us with information to place the product in the right range. Different analyses of trends in the habitat sector give us enough information to determine which range of colours and materials we should select. Our cultural background and accumulated experience in the design of home furnishings mark the formal lines of our design.
Inspiration
Two concepts: the play of volumes and transparencies, plus the combination of materials. The inspiration comes from the contrast of lacquered unicolor surfaces against textures such as stones or wood with their natural imperfections, as well as the integrated solid surface washbasin and smoked glass. Complex vs. simple... Uniqueness for plurality..., to create a concept of bathroom furniture that is unique for the majority of users, where it can combine harmoniously with the rest of the elements

Design Interview about Avant Bathroom Furniture

An embossed frame draws and encloses the profile of the suspended furniture. It runs on columns, on open elements, on wall units creating a pleasant continuum.

We wanted to find an untapped functionality in the design of doors and drawers of home furniture, which consists of the play of volumes and the combinability of materials.

To increase the turnover of my client Grupo Bono, for its AKUA bathroom division.

The development of the Avant collection is part of a global bathroom furnishing project that was born in 2023. A development that lasted until the end of 2024.

This design began to take shape in June 2023, through a specific order from my client Grupo Bono, for its AKUA bathroom division.

It is currently in productive development, along with the rest of the models in the collection, which we hope will be presented to the market in 2026 by my client Grupo Bono, for its AKUA bathroom division.

This project is based on the exercise carried out two years earlier in a project of wardrobes for bedrooms, for my client Grupo Bono, for its KUBICO wardrobe division, which I invite you to see on my website.

It was precisely the absence of defined references that made him propose this new and structural technical solution.

It is a very versatile product from a formal and economic point of view. It will depend on the choice and combination of materials that meets the needs and aesthetics of the end customer. Therefore, its target audience is broad-spectrum from mid-range to high-end.

The main differences lie in the structural design of the aluminium profile that allows the combination of board and glass, together with the number of combinable materials ranging from melamine boards, lacquered MDF boards and boards covered with varnished natural wood veneer.
If we add to this the fact that the customer can choose any combination of materials, colours and finishes, as well as the measurements and configuration of doors and drawers, we find a product that has no competition in the European market.

AVANT, means "forward", "advance","... one step further."

My usual 3D assisted design tools, ... AutoCAD, skechUp, v-Ray..

The pieces are assembled at different depths, creating an asymmetrical and balanced relationship with thin horizontal lines of their framing with an exclusive aluminium profile system, which allows different thicknesses of board and/or glass to be joined

The I+D department of my client Grupo Bono, was key in the development of this project. I have always understood that collaboration with the different departments of the client that must produce the project are key to its success.

The specific design and development of the structural aluminium profile – (which allows combining board and glass, together with the number of combinable materials ranging from melamine boards, lacquered MDF boards and boards covered with varnished natural wood veneer), is the technological essence of the AVANT collection.
They are super matte melamines or wood effect, that is, protected with a crystallized resin at high temperatures, which makes them more resistant to water and humidity, as well as easy to clean.
Matte and soft, composed of cellulose and innovative resins, it is treated with nanotechnology to make it anti-imprint, hygienic, waterproof, shock-resistant and scratch-resistant. With this type of material, small scratches can also be adjusted: you just need to cover with a damp cloth and pass with the iron.

Both the analysis and subsequent market study, as well as sociological studies of functional and aesthetic needs for the defined age range, gave us the clues to define the breafing of this product-collection.

The biggest challenge was, like almost all industrial projects, the optimization of processes and costs, without sacrificing aesthetic features.

When a product meets the initial expectations and is aesthetically very balanced, you know that it can be successful. This made us think it was worth trying to submit it to a prestigious competition and we didn't hesitate. Now we can know, with our Bronze A'design Award, that you were not wrong, which encourages us to face the commercialization of it, with more guarantees of success.

The improvements appeared as the development of the first production prototypes progressed. In the launch phase we are finalizing some small details that will help a better balance of costs.

Just to mention that Avant, as I said at the beginning, is part of a "Total Look" collection, in which other types of furniture are already emerging, which we will surely present in future editions of the A'design Award

Grand Interview about Avant Bathroom Furniture

The idea of a relief frame that draws and encloses the profile of the furniture arises as a primary objective of combining in a single element the aesthetics and the unexploited function in the design of doors and drawers of home furniture, which consists of the play of volumes and combinability of materials. It also runs on columns, on open elements, on wall units creating a pleasant continuum.

This is a feature that is representative of many of my furniture designs for the habitat. I have always understood that furniture is looked at and touched. All the senses are important to create well-being.

The biggest challenge was, like almost all industrial projects, the optimization of processes and costs, without sacrificing aesthetic features. Undoubtedly, working from the beginning of the project with industrial partners specialized in aluminum injection systems, has made it possible to control and optimize technology, material and manufacturing costs, in each of the phases, reaching very optimal results.

The current trend is based on very clean lines and planes. This circumstance, in my opinion, makes all products similar. The fact of increasing volumes aesthetically is transgressive to me while allowing the combination of several materials and textures with the same assembly element.

The specific design and development of the structural aluminium profile – (which allows combining board and glass, together with the number of combinable materials ranging from melamine boards, lacquered MDF boards and boards covered with varnished natural wood veneer), is the technological essence of the AVANT collection. Some of the materials used are super matte melamines or wood effect, that is, protected with a crystallized resin at high temperatures, which makes them more resistant to water and humidity, as well as easy to clean. Others have a matte and soft finish, made of cellulose and innovative resins, treated with nanotechnology to make it anti-imprint, hygienic, resistant to water, shocks and scratches. With this type of material, small scratches can also be adjusted: you just need to cover with a damp cloth and pass with the iron.

The Avant Bathroom Furniture Collection is available in different heights, depths and storage solutions. For example, columns: with one, two or more doors to place next to each other and combine them. The vertical wall cabinet can alternate closed volumes and transparencies that let light through, creating a feeling of spaciousness and brightness, and are equipped with interior lighting and glass shelves. Light and sophisticated containers that blend harmoniously, giving the composition an effect of formal lightness in any bathroom space.

As I mentioned before, some of the boards that make up the structure and fronts of the Avant collection, are composed of cellulose and innovative resins, are treated with nanotechnology to make it hygienic, resistant to water, shocks and scratches. It is true that these materials have a higher cost, but the end user is increasingly concerned about ecological and recyclable products.

The Avant Led mirrors are backlit on the perimeter, and the practical vanity mirror enhances their functionality through a practical movement.

Both the analysis and subsequent market study, as well as sociological studies of functional and aesthetic needs for the defined age range, gave us the clues to define the breafing of this product-collection. To this we add the distinctive feature, which was the profile that supports the multiple combinations of textures and materials.

Avant is a tale of beauty that speaks through shapes and materials. Sight and touch coexist in a dialectical relationship, in a multisensory composition. "Details are not details, they are design" and "design is the art of industrial society"
