Phephetso ya Moralo: During the design and research process of Rayn, the main challenge we faced was how to utilize the parasols in the limited balcony, and at the same time, we needed to make a more reasonable design for the layout of the balcony. In addition, a lot of effort has been put into the material and structural design of umbrella curtains to more effectively carry rainwater to ensure that it is more practical for rainwater collection.
Dipatlisiso: The purpose of Rayn's research is to solve some of the problems encountered by urban residents in their lives, such as limited balcony space and frequent transportation of kettles. By designing a product that integrates sunshade, rainwater collection, and intelligent water purification, it provides users with a Environmentally friendly, practical and innovative solution. We discovered users' needs and problems through in-depth observation and understanding of urban life.
Kgothaletso: Rayn's design is inspired by the daily life of urban residents and environmental protection concepts. We found that when people water their balcony plants, they need to fill a kettle with water at home and then take it to the balcony, which is a cumbersome process. Therefore, we designed a parasol that can collect rainwater, making watering convenient. Urban balconies have limited space, so we combined rainwater collectors with parasols. Environmental protection is also what people want.
