Dipatlisiso: I wanted to create camping gas stove that will be functional and large enough to hold a cooking pot but small enough not to take up too much space for storage as well. All this together with the creation of clean minimal aesthetic lines. I've observed and researched at different types of gas stoves and collapsible products, making a morphological study of different types of spiders following the gas stove research - which lead to the Katipo spider. Adjusting it into production and testing several and different type of forms. Hours of prototypes making till to working model.
Kgothaletso: The product's name is due to the resemblance of the stove to the shape of Katipo spider.

The katipo (night stinger) is one of many species of the genus Latrodectus, such as the Australian redback spider which is common in New Zealand and got its name from the native tribes (Maori).

Due to the spider's small size, the stove was designed as well. Moreover, the model was inspired by the katipo's color and proportions.
